I recently was suggested a article of a 22 year old girl that was mauled by 2 dogs in Texas recently and her face got really fucked up for life.
The boyfriend is staying with her. I think the article said she helped him through cancer recently and he is glad to be able to help her like she helped him with cancer.
Anyway this made me think about stuff like wtf would I do in this situation...is it worth being in an actual serious relationship with a woman unless you are actual prepared to do this? Etc etc.
Haven't posted in ages, but thought this would be fun, and that someone here might appreciate it.
I've been working from home since the start of COVID, and I generally keep on some background media while working - podcasts, tv shows, music, etc. About 8 months ago YouTube suggested a replay of an SC2 pro match. I played SC2 for a short while during beta, but to my knowledge, I haven't done, said, or watched anything that would warrant YouTube to think I would be interested in SC2. This is because I didn't know I was interested in SC2.
Out of curiosity, I watched that replay. I now watch this shit all day and actively watch these guys stream on Twitch. All because YouTube suggested one video to me. I'm not going to pretend to know how YT's suggestion algo works, but I like to think that if any number of things happened for me to not watch that video, that it would have never been suggested again.
I've been bed-ridden for a few days after having my wisdom teeth taken out. It kind of sucks balls I have been living off of carbo-gain, whey protein, vegetable-shake-powder, peanut butter, and multi-vitamins for the past 3days and the pain hasn't gone away yet. Anyway I had some time so I was thinking about how concerned I am about the Loco's life trajectory. I remember he told me a story once on Discord about how he was on a long flight and some guy sitting next to him started giving him "life advice" how he told him "He is good at figuring out what people should do with their lives"...Loco said he doesnt give a crap about stuff like that but I thought to myself, "Man how pathetic must Loco come off as in real life for strangers to randomly start giving him advice on what to do in life"
I thought about the movie "Meet the Parents" and I imagine Loco has been in a similar situation a few times in his life...where he goes home to his girlfriend's family gathering and their right-winger father disapproves of Loco's life choices. I can see it in my head, Robert Deniro complaining that for starters, he doesn't even have a car! "What kind of guy doesnt even have a car?!!?" "And he works as a...video game tester? WTF is that!"...lol. What a dumb loco!!! I wonder how many times he has been dumped because of this!! LmK if you agree with this!!
I was wondering if there was a way to change Loco's shark avatar.
I realize that avatars change with post count, but the shark is a sacred animal in poker because of the term "poker shark".
In My Opinion, loco is a very dumb guy!!! He is also a dumb vegan!!!! He doesn't even have a car!!! Lol! Soo I think his avatar should be something more appropriate for him.

I've been really ramping up my due diligence on relocating to a different state lately. At the bare minimum, I am going to switch jobs soon to a company that can better facilitate my transfer to another state.
The thing that really bothers me is not being able to play NJ online poker. It's definitely a major hold-up. I haven't played much this year but have been messing around a bit lately . It really is great to be able to play poker on sites with great software (Stars mainly, but Party is good too). Even if I am playing like...30nl, 50nl it is alot of fun to be able to play and work a bit on your game here and there. Mainly I was thinking about moving back to Vegas, but really it's not the same comparing WSOP.com software vs Stars. I'm sure the traffic is there but I think that being able to save hand histories and see where your game is going is a really valuable thing that I kind of dont want to lose . It really is annoying that Vegas doesnt allow trackers on their sites.
Im going to share my tip on how to obtain a free checkbook.
If you come across a decent amount of money (idk the exact amount) but let's say 25k or 30k or maybe even 15k. Check to see if you can be upgraded to your bank's preferred checking account. Most likely this tier will come with a free checkbook.
Now, it's important to note that these tiers are a scam and its dumb to have that much money in your checking account for no good reason.
Anyway basically once you get to the preferred checking tier they will mail you your free checkbook. Once you receive it, you can promptly proceed to downgrade to regular checking and siphon away all of the money to wherever you want.
The bank will not retaliate against you, and you have just won yourself a checkbook that will have otherwise cost you at least $10.
I haven't worn contact lenses in awhile because I never liked them. But I decided to try em out again recently a month or so ago.
I realized since I don't like wearing them generally I would give the daily lenses a shot. My plan was only to wear them a couple times a year.
I got my eye exam and contacts fitted and they said they would do a follow up in a week or so. During this time I only wore it like 2 times despite being given like a 2 week supply. Afterwards during my followup I said it wasn't all that comfortable and the optometrist said there was an even more comfortable lens. We ordered that and I picked up the 2 weeks supply that was free again and I haven't worn it at all.
Now I basically have a month's supply of contact lenses which will last me the whole year and I didnt have to pay for it at all.
I'm considering making a move to a new city. I realized that I can switch companies doing the same thing I am doing now and relocate to an area with lower cost of living while making more $. I've been brainstorming places for a good month or so now, and the top contender is Dallas/FortWerth area. Other contenders were Houston but I figure I don't want to deal with hurricanes and the weather is slightly worse. Also the economy is more tied to oil idk if that is good or bad. Atlanta was another contender but just didn't have too many positives to beat out Dallas or Houston. Charlotte NC was also a consideration but then I realize RiKD lives there so that is obviously off the table. Aside from that though the Airport while being underrated for a smaller city, still has expensive/worse flights compared to major hubs like DAL/HOU.
I considered Vegas/San Diego but Vegas isn't great for me in terms of work probably and San Diego too expensive and too many liberals.
Anyway my financial projections are -- Currently making 85k maybe in a few years make 95k. By switching companies and moving would probably start at 95k and 115k/120kish in a few years. I've run some "Take home pay calculator" Sims and it seems like I'd earn between $200-$400 a week more with this other job. This accounts for the income tax I'd save by living in Texas.
The only thing that skews this is that I am still living at home with the parents LOL so that saves me a good 10k-15k TAXFREE minimum a year. T-a-x-f-r-e-e. That is like equivalent of making 13k-20k doing nothing. That is a pretty tough thing to beat.
Housing options living in Texas would be to monklife a craigslist room or buy a property and rent spare rooms out but IDK. There are houses in DFW suburbs that are 3bed 3bath for 250k and I could rent spare rooms out, but idk I'd be paying a hefty 3% in property taxes per year. Also furnishing a place so I can rent it out probably costs close to 10k at a minimum I am thinking.
edit: forgot to mention that my current setup is really easy. I'm making progress at the gym, getting better at guitar. There's a good chance I'd have to give those up by moving.
I was just looking at my old hands I posted here on liquidpoker, jesus I was bad. I don't think I would have played a single hand I looked at the same way today. It's almost to crazy to think I won money back then. Even the way I talked to other people, my old blogs, everything about 20 year old crownroyal was so awful lmao. I apologize to all of you.
I played quite a bit last year during covid times, the games were soooooooo good. I think I made 10k USD from poker last year in sub 100 hours of play. (Thanks in part mostly to a 5.5k bink in a $50 tournament on bovada).
It's interesting to me that even though I have done no studying, minimal grinding and really just haven't been involved at all for so long that I could assimilate so much knowledge about the game over that period of time. Something about GTO really clicked with me, even if I'm describing it wrong and I never directly played with the calculators for it just seeing the bet sizings and the way the theory plays its ranges immediately resonated with me.
I have exactly zero desire to ever grind poker ever again, in fact I would say most all of my ambitions are gone and I'm only 32. I have become so complacent with my life, I wish I could get that fire back. In my real life I paid off everything I own and only work part time now as a systems/network admin for a smallish business. I own a house, a car, I have a nice computer, I have all the things I need. I don't have a lust for money or monetary success in general. It seems like that's the only thing there is to grind for but every time I have lots of money it just sits in my bank account, I genuinely have no use for it.
I spend most all of time learning, I could talk your ear off about anything regarding physics or space. I have a pretty big crypto trading hobby lately, that's also been keeping me going for the past while.

So yeah, I lost my mind and actually spent my time on this ridiculous idea.
When I was a kid many decades ago, some of the games I enjoyed the most were games like 'Heroes of Might & Magic II' and MTG which seemed like they wouldn't be as hard to make as other game genres.
Because of the nature of cards, I didn't need to have any animation skills to make a card game.
For example, here's my buddy Harry posing for the 'Majestic Aura' aura card in the game. I mostly used stock photography in the same way to get some 'art' for the cards. It's tough sometimes because you need to find something that's for sale and/or has explicitly abandoned its copyright claims, so you don't have an infinite choice of images to work with, but for your first game I think it's a fine option compared to pouring money into an art studio.
Next, I tried some existing games on the app store to see what I'm up against. This can be pretty disheartening because the popular games on the app store are made by actual companies (not by 1 dude in a basement), use powerful game engines like Unity to get a head start on the tech, and invest on getting great looking visuals with cool animations.
I knew that none of these I can possibly compete with - but I did notice some imperfections I thought I actually could improve.
Idea 1: screen sizing
A lot of the games I saw seemed to be designed for PC (where games can actually make money) and ported to iPhone later. Something that commonly bothered me was how tiny the assets looked on my screen, probably exacerbated by my terrible grandpa-level eyesight.
Plenty of games were 'borrowing', from the HOMM series like me, so they had 8x8 tile battle maps on the screen like in the classic games. I decided really early on that I wanted to have tiny maps.
The smallest battle maps in my game ended up having only 4x4 tiles, and the largest (which starts getting too small for the screen to my taste) are 7x7
Idea 2: complexity ramp
One leading game I tried had me start out with 4 different troop types, a hero, a city with 3 building types, and some resources to acquire even more stuff. It all looked great and pretty much like what I wanted to play, but introducing all that stuff at the same time made it feel like studying instead of playing.
On top of that, because of the complexity, they had me go through a tutorial where I didn't have any options (I just had to tap next-next-next to indicate I understood the lesson). This experience seemed to me to take away from their otherwise sweet game.
This gave me the idea to have the player start with 0 cards instead of some kind of 'beginner deck'. Even then, after asking some of my friends to test it, they commented that it became too complex too quickly, so I slowed it down even more.
Idea 3: a harsh game
So another game I really enjoyed as a kid was Diablo II. The game had a 'hardcore' mode where, if you die, you're actually dead and lose the countless hours 'invested' in your character.
Idea 4: No pansy end-boss
Another thing about Diablo II was that even though the game itself was pretty difficult, the final end-boss, you know, the one that the game was named for, was a total pansy. What the hell? I always remember feeling disappointed when contemptuously wiping the floor with him. No such nonsense in my game! The hardest fight is the boss fight.
Idea 5: Secrets
Another easy thing I could do is add secrets everywhere. This doesn't take any great programming skill, so I thought it would be a great fit for my 1-man mission. I tried to mimic the classic 1993 game 'Doom', where players get rewarded for pushing walls randomly until they discover some secret bonus.
Idea 6: Boomer references
So if you read this far, you probably noticed that nostalgia was a pretty big motivational factor for me. During the design, at one point I noticed I had the cards 'Doom' and 'Earthquake'. If I just renamed the 2nd card to 'Quake', it'd become a reference that some boomer gamers out there would appreciate.
I did, and I started renaming cards everywhere in this manner. I even had a card named 'Craft Star' at one point, but I think that was taking it a little bit too far, so I ended up cutting it
I still have a lot of things to be disappointed about.
- I don't understand anything about how networking happens, so my game is single-player only. That's really a shame, because it would probably lend itself pretty well to multiplayer.
- Because I'm all alone, the content is pretty sparse (there are only 8 levels to go through for now).
- I'm good at AI, but I had so much trouble making the basic game and it took me so much longer than I expected that I didn't end up actually making a proper AI. The computer follows some basic rules while playing and that seems to give a reasonable enough result most of the time.
And I could list a lot of other disappointments. But at the end of day, I'm stoked because I actually released a game. That's pretty crazy!
I moved to PA and by coincidence I saw that I can play pokerstars in PA so I am giving it a go. I got my degree in computer science but I think I would still prefer to try to do this.
I am looking for coaching. Discerning in who I would accept coaching from.
My funds are extremely limited, but I am not asking to be staked or loaned or backed or anything. Some kind of scheme for payment would have to be developed, perhaps profit sharing? Anyone who knows me know I have a high level of potential. I am just looking to re-sharpen my game as quickly as possible. Also, I'd like to have someone skilled to check hands with and a solid strategy to be playing with, so that I have more confidence in my game and will be less effected by any runbad.
If this doesn't sound possible then I guess I will go it alone.
If any of you are a strongly winning 6max player and are interested, please let me know. I'd prefer to do this with an LPer or someone related to starcraft.
Random poker update. Fwiw I would have updated more but there are alot of anti-poker ppl on this forum so I have been trying to avoid using this blog.
also up a little bit on other NJ site. Anyway I have been doing pretty well since May after the Galfond Challenge when I realized some things about poker. I want to take poker more seriously and honestly I really love the content from these CFP stables and tried applying to one and have gotten an offer from one of them but there are some things that I will need to sort out and I'm not sure if I can make it work.
Wondering if there are any active players that play for a living that can give me some advice or something(maybe on skype rather than here).
I posted before that I'm trying to make educational apps. I just got so tilted by office life that I'm trying to do anything I can to get back away from it
Anyway, the first app I made is meant to learn the poker rules and that one is seeing some success, which is almost unbelievable to me I'm so happy about it. I started charging $1 to download it on iOS and it's bringing in some pocket change every day. Now that i know there's a need for it, I would feel more comfortable paying someone to translate it into one of the big languages that I don't speak. The most important one is probably Chinese or Portuguese.
I translated it into dutch myself and it took me like 8 hours of straight work, even being intimately familiar with everything and being an expert at english, dutch and understanding poker. I think it would more realistically take 2 days to translate everything for someone else. Given that, I thought it might be fair to offer about $250 for it (am I being too cheap?)
So if any of you want to do it or if you know someone who would want to do it, please set me up! I'm kind of hoping I can get some LP user's 16 year old brazilians/portuguese cousin who knows poker to do it and make them happy.
On android, I'm giving away everything for free because I still have no traction at all, so I think it's better to do whatever I can to get some ratings going.
