Its my 26th birday today, very very big things coming up. My girlfriend is arriving in Sydney from China to visit me and spend both her and my birthday together (Yes we are born on the same day although she is 6 years younger than me!). Then I am scooting off on a 2week golf vacation with my good friends, girlfriend and sister!
Obligatory pic of said alleged girlfriend
On to my epic milestone~
On October 16th 2011 I weighed 84.7kg whilst only being 173cm so that my friend is really fat as you can imagine. Now the weird thing is I've never really cared about the fat jokes or felt at all insecure and I think the reason for that is I felt I was overachiever in every other aspect in life anyway.
I thought to my self; 4 years ago I was a broke student with less than $1000 in savings now I own an apartment and still have more than 7 figures banked. I've come along way success wise, but my health has suffered immensely as a result.
So I decided to just become the perfect being. The epitome of a young balla, I started with 3km runs on day 1 but by about the 30th day I had already increased my run to 10km.
I planned my calorie intake everyday (set at 1300) and planned my cardio and strength training to burn atleast 800 calories. I did this by rotating between a 2km swim or a 10km run or a round of golf. With an addition of 80 situps and 60 push ups daily.
There were days where every atom in my body wanted to give up and take a day off but I persevered.
I remember one day super clearly. It was towards the end of December and I had been sick with a slight fever and was playing poker since 10am till 2am. Thats 16 hours of continous grind. I was also down about $30,000 but the fish logged off so I was done. Really wanted to eat something warm then shower and sleep but I hadn't done my run yet! Oh shitt..... No pain no gain I thought. So I put my shoes on, did the laces up and went down stairs. Then I finally realised what all the noises were, there was a monster storm, thunder and lightining everywhere. I still went for it, I told myself this is how people succeeded and there was no way I would accept failure. That day I ran 10km, the rain completely soaked my clothes and shoes. With rain and sweat dripping down my face I couldn't even see where I was going, but I ran and ran and when I was finally done I felt like a champion..
Today, on my birthday the 12 of Jan 2012 I weigh 69.8kg thats 14.9kgs lost in just under 3 months.
So just finished 1,000,000 vpps for the year 17 days earlier than last year so I'm real stoked about that. But pity made like $300,000 less than last year. I think the main reason for that is Black Friday and me mentally giving up on poker because of it.
I've also had an insane death run in terms of all in ev, but there is still plenty of room to improve my skills. Also played nosebleeds 100/200 and 200/400 for the first time ever this year. I ran pretty bad tho, called a shove with AK vs the mark after squeezing and couldnt spike anything, losing a $120,000 pot and I also lost a flip to chaoren QQ vs AK. All in all down about $100,000 on nosebleeds. But you guys will be seeing more of me there some time in the future.
Let me expand on my point of Black Friday killing the games, I think alot of the recreational players left the midstakes field, whereas the highstakes fish are still keen to play 25/50+. This year I've found midstakes to be super hard and if it weren't for SNE, I don't think I would even bother. When I come back to poker again, I will spend about a month time doing some research and strategising to try and find an improved way to play 24 tables. If thats not successful, there might be a chance of me becoming a bumhunter @ 25/50. (Fingers crossed it doesn't come to that.)
Anyways going to take a 45 day holiday with family and girlfriend (planning an EPIC golf holiday), see you all next year! Best of luck to those who are still grinding.
Merry XMAS and Happy New Year!!!! <3
Proof of SNE
Yearly Graph
SNE = $100,000
Sold action on 200/400 = $30,000
Total = $300,000
Hours played is 1300
Hourly = $230
$500,000 below ev lifetime (can't load graph coz too big database)
Let me tell you about my most epic day of the year. It started on the 10th of this month, after coming home from a round of golf and dinner, I started to grind my daily quota for SNE. Below is a simple timeline of the events that followed.
1. 7pm start
2. 6 hours in I decided to call it a day after winning like $500, but when closing tables i lost a buyin at 25/50.
3. Obvious thing to do at 1am is to reload all 24 tables again and keep going.
4. 4am I lost about 8 flips consecutively and was down over $35,000. I was tired, hungry, struggling to keep my eyes open, but today's losses hit me so damn hard, I think it was a combination of my eternal run bad this year and also losing it to the same guy yurasov900 so I decided to stick it to the poker gods and grind till I was even. My only weapon against such a beast of a foe was my will power.
5. 10am After winning this gem of a hand http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/925697 I was finally up after 15 hours of non stop poker. I even got to take all my money back and some more from the same guy
I ended up winning 22k, even though this isnt close to my biggest win it was definately the most rewarding. So the lesson here is, life is a struggle but if you stick to it there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
“I’m focused, I’m intense I will read your soul and I will crush it.” To quote my self~
So yesturday I started my daily poker session and about 4 hours in I was up $11,000. I felt extremely tired as I had been playing 8 hours a day of poker since September 1st. I decided to go down stairs and get some mouth ulcer medecine, thats when I noticed a new spa centre which looked really grand, I had heard about a 50% new trial promotion they had going so I decided to reward my self for my hard work.
When I walked into this place it was amazing, the decor was like an arabian palace, and about 12 young women greeted me with perfect smiles, I was absolutely in awe. They sat me down and poured me tea, explaning to me what they did and how much they charged... Let me tell you the fee wasnt cheap... For those people that dont know me very well, I actually live a fairly normal life, other than good food and presents for my sister and girlfriend I dont really buy anything for my self. I am still wearing a shirt I got as a present 4 years ago, I have a very limited wardrobe, dont own a car or have anything thats worth 2k+.. After learning the price of there services which was 400usd$/hour I wanted to jet the hell out of there, but I had been so tired and stressed I decided for this off occassion to pamper my self.
The room they lead me to was also quite amazing, it had a massive bath, shower, scented candles and fresh towels everything you'd expect for the price im paying. When the two Masseuse started I was in heaven.. So this got me thinking, if I wanted to be able to come back anytime I wanted and not feel a pinch then I need to work harder and smarter and Improve my game and make more money. So afterwards I went and bought a notepad and started brainstorming somethings I would do to imrprove my poker.
So far I've got three areas I'm gonna work on.
1. My actual poker game, which I won't devulge details about because they are too sensitive.
2. My conditions of play, no more tv shows, no chatting, using tiled tables instead of cascade, setting up a better hud, getting table ninja.
3. My life balance, exercising more, eating less meat, stretching every hour during play, playing more golf/guitar.
I'm gna make one change a day and today I'm gna modify my hud so it isnt the useless default one.
