Tjbenthams BubblePool
  TwistedEcho, Aug 04 2009

So pokerwise this vegas was pretty terrible, so this will be a none poker blog entry. This summer i stayed in migs house. The house next to migs was bought last year by tom (tjbentham) kets old housemate and highstakes superstar. He seems scared of being soulread and tries to avoid live poker so was only coming out to vegas the end of june, and for most of the wsop Mark Vos, Gaucho1235 or w/e his name is, SamH and a few other poker players rented his house. We didn't know them, but clearly decided to welcome them as our neighbours and waterballooned them when they moved in. They retaliated a few days later with water balloons, condoms w/ water in and smoke bombs. We had a few ideas planned to get them back, but never had an oppotunity.

When they moved out, there was a day before tom was moving in and we had supplies already bought ready to get their house so we figured why let it go to waste, and we might as well bubblebath Toms pool for him.

At first we put ~10 bottle of dishsoap and bubble bath in the pool under his waterfall. It made bubbles that filled the pool but only a very small layer. We then realised if we just turned on the hottub and put the bubble stuff into there it would create so many bubbles which would overflow into the pool

Me and Blair Hinkle pouring our last soap into the hot tub.

Grant Hinkle, Blair and ME admiring our work. Grant was in his fish costume from the wsop event he busted - each day he'd play in various different outfits designed to look silly/fishy.

You can see how all the bubbles are coming out the hottub, and this is after about 30-45mins of it starting.

So thats the only vegas update i can be bothered with. It was nice seeing all the LPers this year and hopefully will see some of you guys at EPT london, and if not PCA. One warning for those of you who do this to your friends, apparently it did require the pool to be drained and refilled - im not convinced this was needed but the guy who oversees the house came over one day and said it would need draining so be aware that might have to happen.

DIE TOURNAMENTS
  TwistedEcho, Aug 10 2008

I need to whine

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502286 - 80/20 for 20bb, $200 bounty AND an 'ibusted mandyB' tshirt.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502261 - big flips in 2nd chance for 3x average stack

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502259 - slowrolled AND lose

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502254 - big setup flips in $500 donkament

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502252 - holy shit wtf call no history ITM in $50

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502251 - yay probably two outered since i think he folds turn otherwise

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502249 - AA loses to AK in $320 sat to wcoop which i've bubbled twice, this time didnt get to go deep

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502248 - expert limpreraise in some FTP tournament

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502221 - so owned (this was the moron who cold 4bet 66 in the AK v 66 v QQ hand cause hes dumb)

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/502188 - so owned #2 in ftops

2 cashes in like 20 mtts, -$4500 day. I could most more, but i only uploaded most of those bad beats since from the 77 v 33 to the first one only 1hr 30 passed, it just seemed like i lost every key pot to keep being knocked out tournaments.

Sorry for the lame whining post, haven't done one before so i was due!!

This week going to play some cash and just ftops/stars $150/300s i think and seriously cut back on tournaments before i break something. Good thing next weekend has a $2500, 100r plo, $129 bounty and $535 ftops ME so i can lose even more tournament money (and clearly going to be playing all sundays again next weekend!!)

Donkament Days
  TwistedEcho, Aug 09 2008

So as most of you are aware, i used to play mtts only. For the last ~9months i've been dabbling around in other forms of games, mostly playing PLO and some 6max NLHE, and only playing the bigger tournaments, or when i'm bored.

In Vegas i didn't perform too well live (due mostly to being an alcoholic, and playing 8 events rather than the ~25 i planned to play). However i played a small amount online, and managed to win a tournament for $20k and ~$10k in winning from omaha.

HH for my stars $150 win

http://www.pokerxfactor.com/HA141876/stars150/17307

So now FTOPS and WCOOP are starting, i'm trying to get back into playing tournaments. The last few days i've played a fair amount and not really enjoyed it that much - even choosing to just play ftops and a 300fo yesterday to prevent getting burnt out.

However tomorrow is sunday, which mean losing lots of money, my current schedule looks like:

Pokerstars

12.45 $215 Sunday Warmup
13:00 $109 NLHEfo
14:00 $109r NLHEr
15:00 $55 NLHEfo
15:15 $55r NLHEr
16:30 $215 Sunday Million
17:00 $55 NLHEfo
17:15 $215 NLHE HU
17:15 $55r NLHEr (1 rebuy 1 addon)
17:30 $530 NLHEfo
18:00 $322 WCOOP ME sat
18:30 $215 Sunday Second Chance
19:00 $100 NLHE

and FTP

13:00 $75 NLHE 6max
13:30 $55r NLHEr (1 rebuy 1 addon)
14:00 $256 FTOPS#08 (basically the brawl)
15:00 $153 NLHEfo
16:00 $535 FTOPS#09 (HU shootout)
16:00 $75 NLHEfo
18:00 $322 FTOPS#010 (FTP sunday)
19:00 $75 NLHE
19:05 $215 Sunday Mulligan

~$4800 in buyins

So should be a fun day. For the rest of the FTOPS i think i'm going to go back to grinding cash while the FTOPS isn't running, and just focus on one/two tabling FTOPS and stars $150/$300 nightlys. Obviously other sundays will be mtt grinds, but i just don't think i can go back to solid mtt days.

There is a nice few weeks break between ftops and wcoop which is good, and then when wcoop starts i'll either play cash and 1/2 table WCOOP, or add more mtts into the mix if i'm liking tournaments again.

One last thought - the more i play cashgames, the more i feel tournamenst are crapshoots and less fun. However the bigger buyin tournaments generally have a better structure, and clearly the better structure tournaments are much more fun since there is way more play - gogogo run good WCOOP one time!
