Annoyed
  DustySwedeDude, Aug 20 2013

I've made a habit of knocking over my morning cup of coffee and getting it all over my keyboard and my pants. This annoys me. I'm probably out like 50 bux in keyboards just this year and in addition to that my favourite gym pants smells like Coffee.

I de-installed Dota 2 today. I got super tilted when I got owned mid by a pudge while my gf tried to talk to me. I never get "angry tilt" in poker anymore. I can't concentrate for shit when anyone talks to me, which annoys me a bit.

It's too bloody warm. Summer is nice and everything but my brain shuts down when it gets to hot. I can't concentrate on anything.

I looked at some houses online and noticed that anything decent in the areas I really want to live in is like 500k US or something like that. I do not currently have 500k. Unless gold hits 3000 USD or something I really need to figure out how to go about being a solid 10/20+ reg with work ethics and successful 25/50 shots. That or get SNE next year while maintaining a really good winrate. I'm not sure which one is harder, probably the 25/50 one. On the other side I'm kind of inconsistent with grinding so I'm not sure.

Big spoliers so don't click if you don't want to get spoiled as far as the International 3 goes. However, this is some cool stuff.

Coaching idea
  DustySwedeDude, Jun 20 2013

Edit: Ok, got one group full now, working on another one. Keep sending requests and I'll keep expanding. For some reason a bunch of people with very little PLO experience wanted the deal too so I'll probably end up making a cheaper option if 2-3 additional guys wants it. Like, some basic stuff for maybe 60 or something instead of 100.

EDIT: Everyone need skype and a decent head set. Make sure you can talk with decent quality. I'll also need a working(ish) E-mail for google docs or whatever it's called.

Ok, so I've gotten a couple of request for coaching.

I like the idea of coaching, but there is one big problem. My hourly playing cash is reasonably high, although I'm not exactly sure how high and I have limited time. Thus I need to make a decent amount of money from coaching for it to be worth it, but at the same time I'd feel dirty trying to take 300US/hour or something.

The obvious solution is to be more effective which means coaching a bunch of people at the same time. I'm sure everyone who would want coaching from me would get a decent amount of value from that and if I get 100 USD per person for like 2 hours it's still a decent hourly. If I then can reuse that lesson with other people later I'll save time and up the hourly.

I'm also slightly intrigued by the idea of getting it going as a small scale business. It looks much better if I ever want to get a real job and it'd be easier to say that I have my own company rather then go "I play poker on the internetz, lolz" whenever someone asks what I do for a living.

I have the first lesson in my head, it'll be called "Stuff I think is important" and be about a bunch of concept I'm fairly sure I'm getting more right then most other people. It'll probably be around 90-120 minutes. I posted some stats a while back if that's something anyone is interested in but for the most part I'll just assume that everyone who reads this and would want coaching from me knows who I am.

Cost will be 100 USD for the session. First 5-6 guys who apply will get in for the test run. I'll do it with people I know or who has +300 posts before other people.

I'm not going to check my LP-inbox over midsummer so it might take a few days before I get back to anyone after today. Feel free to ask questions.

I'm a weak person
  DustySwedeDude, Jun 15 2013

So I tried to quit a session to "lock up a win". Lex said that was a leak so I said; "ok, I'll play until both fishes leave". Damn fishes just won't quit. Up 26k, hungry, tilted despite being up 26k (Thank you YOSSUFACHMEND or whatever your name is...) and the fish just won't quit. It's 7am in Sweden. I give up. Time for food and sleep. I'm weak.

Portugal
  DustySwedeDude, Jun 09 2013

This country is somewhat weird. It's much poorer then I expected and even though what I'm staying in is some kind of "rich people's retreat" as far as I can tell the locals seems to be in fairly rough shape and even though everyone is nice it reminds me a lot of Bulgaria a few years ago rather then a country in west Europe. I'm having a good time but I have this nagging feeling that something is not right here, but on the other hand my "reads" has been of lately. Example: Did not see the red wedding coming. Not even when they started playing "Rains of Castamere", mostly because I did not recognize it.

Anyway, me and my girlfriend has been eating at this seafood place. It's been great service, good food and everyone was friendly. It's kind of off season so there are not many customers so we talked a bit about this and that with the staff, they did let out some fantastic quotes:

1. "You can't be out in the sun, you're so white" while comparing the skin colour of my arm with a portugese arm.

2. "You should not carry that much money around, they will stab you" and then some other dude broke in "we're not joking, we would not stab you but they will in Setubul. It's a poor country". This is about a few hundred euros.

They also tell us that minimum wage in Portugal is 400 euros per month and that the country is getting worse all the time. I felt a bit sad about that, because well, it's fairly bloody sad.

Anyway, after having eaten there for a few times we took our friends to the place and this time they messed up some orders, things were slower and I got kind of confused because while some of the staff were the same we also got some new ones that looked kind of out of place. I made sure they did not have crossbows and then we started eatig. My girlfriend suddenly taps my arm and say something like "look, she's crying" and I look up to see that the "They will stab you"-chick is, in fact, crying behind a pillar in the middle of the room only to wipe the tears away, put on a smile and start serving people. It's busy so while I did want to know what was up I couldn't find a practical way to ask someone so after a while we leave.

Later in the evening Unibet has some party at the casino and while I stand in the bar the crying girl taps me on the shoulder and says hi and says that she got fired for talking too much with the customers. I get a bit upset but we invite her to hang out with us at the party and says hi to her boyfriend. Somehow I also say high to half of Portugal because apparently they're a big group of people there. I do however still feel that I want to do something nice, since it has to be fairly hard for someone to lose her job during the circumstances. Since I have a lot of cash on me in case anyone starts a PLO-table and since my "pre-party" was mostly winning a couple of buy ins online (and I figured that a buy in is probably more then a waitress here makes in a month, possibly two or tree months) I figured I could give here some money. The marginal utility of the money is probably higher for her, etc. Giving money to random people just because you feel bad for them is somewhat weird I guess, but in the end I decided that:

"I have some money, I can do whatever the crap I want with them, I want to give some to this waitress because I'd feel better if I knew that she'd manage a bit better until she can get a new job" was decent enough logic so I grabbed a bunch of 50€-bills, gave her them and told her to not get stabbed and don't tell anyone. I think it was about 400€. She got very happy and started buying my girlfriend drinks.

The I got to hang out with some old school prima-regs from the days when I used to play high stakes NL with them and some Danish guy started telling my girlfriend he loved her. That was funny.

I also think I managed a little communication error. Some Portuguese guy said something to me and I asked him to say it in English and then I said "I don't know Portuguese, but I really should because I like BJJ". I think he only heard "Brazilian" though, because later he introduced me to some girl and I'm not sure if he said "this is *name*, she's Brazilian" or "she has a Brazilian"... Either way I decided to call it a night, but before we left the casino my girlfriend wanted a picture with some old lady who had been owning up the dance floor all night. We got to talking to her too, apparently she just did whatever she felt like her last time on earth since she had been diagnosed with some kind of serious cancer. She was a very cool lady and I'm glad I met her.

Overall I've had a fun trip. If a little weird.

Video making?
  DustySwedeDude, May 29 2013

Had a horrible month. Ran like crap (I'm about 30k under ev on stars) and had some long HU matches on eurosites that did not work out at all. Still somehow up a lot for the year and well ahead of scheduled in that regard, but I'll really need to step up the volume if I'm supposed to feel good about my poker playing this year. June might be a fun month though. I'll play the Unibet Open in Portugal (http://www.unibetopen.com/events/troia2013/). Feel free to come say hi if you happen to see me at it.

After that I'll try to get a decent summer grind going. Thinking of going for some 12-tabling mid stakes action and see if I can get a decent winrate for maybe 150k hands or something like that over the summer just to pad the bankroll and get some confidence back. Given my propensity for not keeping to that kind of plans I assume I'll still take some 10/20 shots in good games but I really should keep away from 25/50. Variance is just huge and it's simply getting to the point where it's not a good decision to sit there even if I feel I have a decent edge, at least not until I'm somewhat reasonably rolled for it.

As per usual when I run bad I'm thinking I should start making videos again. This is my stats for the last year or so (my db crashed around this time last year, so since then). I removed a few 100 hands on 25/50 and 50/100 just to make it slightly harder to figure out my nick name. I've also not included the eurosite stats since that shoves me running about 60k€ over equity and I obviously don't want to be seen as just a luckbox donk. Despite the EV-stats and whatever I also feel I've probably been running hot over this sample in 4-bet pots and stuff because I really don't think my true winrate at 5/10 is over 10... (also lol@sample)

Anyone know of any site looking for PLO video makers? I almost feel like making a honest day's work.

In other news we'll probably get the results from the X-rays of my girl's back in a couple of days, at least I hope so. Stuff was actually fairly cheap, even if we had to travel for 300km or whatever to take them. I looked rather terrible when we got there having decided that showering was something I could do at the hotel later and wearing rather old and comfy clothes. My girlfriend wore a Burberry trench coat but it's at least somewhat discreet and since she's not herself early in the mornings and definitely not after a long drive early in the morning I kind of assume we both looked like we might not make a ton of money. When the X-rays was done I asked the girl in the reception if I should pay at once or if I was supposed to send the money somewhere and I also asked how much it'd cost. She told me I should pay later but got weird about it when I asked how much it was and I told her that no, we did not have any insurance of this and yes, I knew I had to pay it all. She almost looked scared when she told me it was 2600 SEK (~350 USD). She then repeatedly asked us if we were ok with that and if we knew that it'd be that much. The day before I made ~15k US or so. I found that somewhat funny.

Weird month
  DustySwedeDude, May 16 2013

I like this month a bit. It's not by any means a good month as far as incomes goes. I've lost about 20k, running about 20k under ev in various PLO games. Been taking some fairly serious high stakes shots playing up to 50/100 (but just a few hands) but most of the volume is at 10/20. Been running as at 10/20 and 5/10 and fairly good at 25/50. Had a bunch of bloody stupid hands, including:

God, high stakes is so much fun.

On the other hand I've gotten a few things done and I've bought a car. A Subaru Legacy from 2009, which ran me a bit over 20k. It's kinda of pretty and I think it'll end up being a fairly cheap car considering the has a very good reputation of never, ever breaking down and the fuel economy is great. Now I only need to remember how to drive, lol.

I'll probably play the scoop PLO HU thingy this afternoon if I feel like it and unless I make a serious splash in that I'll probably go back down a bit and regrind some confidence. Thinking
of 8-tabling zoom for a few weeks just to get a lot of hands in since I've really been slacking in that regard so far this year. Also it's very low stress, which is nice.

Also, summer is finally showing it's face in Sweden. That makes me happy, it's been long overdue.

LOL@Swedish Health Care
  DustySwedeDude, May 13 2013

So my gf had a run in with the Swedish health care system and came home crying because the doctor told her that it was probably unnecessary to do anything about her back. Then he left without actually telling my gf that they where done. She been to four different physiotherapists, two different chiropractors and a naprapath, most of them asking why on earth no one has done X-rays on her back since it's obvious something is wrong. The last 1.5 years or so we've spent about 5 or 6k on physiotherapy and stuff like that.

At least at two occasions I've really wanted to hit someone in the face due to their complete lack of giving a damn. That's not to say that everyone's a moron, but it does seem like it's fairly random if you get someone who cares or someone who doesn't.

Today, when she came home crying, I had enough. I googled private health care and found some place that had the correct doctors using the logic that if they actually have to do something to get paid, it'll increase the probability that they'll do something. Some receptionist answers the phone and I tell her about the situation. She starts talking about how it's expensive and whatnot before I interrupt her and tell her that I made my first million SEK when I was 21 (which I'm not sure about, but it's close enough, might've been 20 or 22). Now we've got a doctor's appointment in two days. Private health care rules, should've done this at once and saved some money.

Hopefully it's an issue that's not serious, but if they find out that it's actually is something seriously wrong with her back I'll be tempted to see if I can get something done about the guy who refused to actually check it out. It'd be interesting to find out what a law degree, lots of money and ample spare time can do.
