Ive gotten to the point where i really wanna learn about craps. Ive been playing around with just free craps online trying diff stuff out and ive been betting on both the pass line and dont pass, then once there is a number, if its 4/10 ive been betting full limit, 5/9 im betting a little less, and 6/8 even less.. and it seems to be like coin flips pretty much..

but i was reading and i heard that the best way is to play pass line and come bets with full odds, but im not even really sure wtf this means.. im kinda lost and dont really see that advantage there.. can someone explain a bit about this? and or just a simple strategy to not lose all ur money.

You can derive a simple strategy to avoid losing all your money: learn the EV of each bet, subtract the amount of money you want to keep from the amount of money you have, divide that amount by the EV, and whatever number you get, make at most that number of bets.

pretty sure if you bet right its got the lowest edge in the casino
0.5% or something?

if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhAN

also piling bets on direct odds spots pays full

basically reduces it to where ur only effective loss is on the initial roll, which is significant i guess, fuck working the math on that who cares.

come in minimal, then just put ALOT of money out there relative to your initial bet in the manner that you've stated and just see what happens. it sounds like alot of fun actually. ALOT of fun.

Its simple just bet the minimum on the pass line then bet the full odds allowed. The odds are pretty much the only bet in casinos that have no house edge they are pure 50/50 flips. So like in some casinos in vegas you can find craps games running where the minimum bet is 3 or 5$ and the max odds you can place are 20-100x. So if you play at those the house edge is virtually nothing and you can just gamble it up for the drinks and fun.

Come bets are the exact same as your beginning pass line bet you are just betting on the next roll like its starting a new point for you. There's no reason to bet the come other than it allows you to get more numbers to hit so you have a bit more action.

The only real strategy you need to know is only bet either the pass or dont pass, come and dont come, bet max odds on whatever you pick for lowest house edge % and never ever bet anything else. Every other bet, the field, hard numbers, etc, are sucker bets.

But for those who haven't tried low stakes craps games can be a lot of fun. Its by far the most fun pit game because the table usually all bets together so when someone goes on a sick run everybody wins, which is why there's usually people cheering and yelling around the craps tables. So if you are betting the minimum and getting free drinks it can be a fun way to start a night when you are going out, without being very expensive. But obviously don't play for any reason other than fun you will still lose money in the long run.

Does sound like fun actually. How does the vegas craps house edge assuming optimal strategy compare to blackjack house edge assuming optimal strategy w/o counting?

pretty much what mig said

with 10x odds and a $10 pass line bet, you can have $110 on the table where your total EV is only - 14 cents. With free drinks and comps this is a win for u. If you add in some $12 place bets on 6 or 8 thats only another - 30 cents or so. Just dont go nuts and "play across" where u make a place bet on every number, or get too involved with the hardway bets where the casino edge is a standardish 7%.

if youre just hunting free drinks then just roll around the 1c slots and spin 1 line everytime the waitress is near to look like ur gamb0ling.
she'll serve you a few if you tip reasonably, then just move to another set of slots.

Its alot more relaxing and less effort than craps and you can just chat to ur friends in the downtime.

its 1.4 % house edge on a pass line bet, 0% on the odds. I think on average its like 0.3% with those two bets together depending on what the max odds are behind. Vegas usually has "3- 4- 5" odds so what the most u put behind depends on what the number rolled is. I've seen 100x odds before though, i guess that would be around a total .014% house edge (still just 14 cents on a $10 pass line bet and $1000 behind).

Blackjack optimal strategy without counting is usually around a .5% house edge.

so yeah craps is better without counting

Baalim   Mexico. Sep 08 2010 13:55. Posts 34312

what really the edge is 0.014? that cant be right.
