WHY IS "THE WIRE" GOOD? I'VE ASKED LIKE 600 TIMES NOW. I WATCHED THE FIRST 5 EPISODES WITH A FRIEND AND IT SUCKED - IT WAS DUMB, BORING AND UNREALISTIC. SERIOUSLY ME AND ONE FRIEND SAT DOWN ON HIS BED AND WATCHED 5 EPISODES IN A ROW. ALL WE COULD DO WAS LOL AND I STRUGGLED TO GET HIM TO WATCH THE NEXT EP. EVENTUALLY IT WAS SO BORING AND DUMB WE JUST TURNED IT OFF, LOLLED, AND NEVER WENT BACK.

SERIOUSLY I HAVE ASKED ABOUT 9 TIMES LITERALLY WHAT THE HELL IS SO GOOD ABOUT "THE WIRE" AND NO ONE HAS COME UP WITH AN ANSWER!!! NOT EVEN A COMPARISON!!!

THE EASIEST WAY TO GET SOMEONE TO RELATE TO SOMETHING IS TO GET THEM TO RELATE SOMETHING THEY ALREADY KNOW TO THE NEW THING!! LIKE IF I WAS TO SAY "WATCH MR BROOKES, ITS LIKE DEXTER" THEN AT LEAST PEOPLE WHO LIKE DEXTER WOULD HAVE SOME UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT "MR BROOKES" IS LIKE.

BUT NO-ONE HAS FUCKING DONE THIS REGARDING THE WIRE!!!

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SOMEONE TELL ME WHY "THE WIRE" IS GOOD AND WHY I SHOULD SPEND ANOTHER 5 EPISODES WATCHING IT!!!

DOES IT HAVE AN AMAZING YET-TO-BE-UNCOVERED PLOT? DOES IT HAVE INCREDIBLE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT THAT I HAVE AS YET NOT BEEN EXPOSED TO AFTER 5 EPISODES? AND ARE THERE SUDDENLY NINJAS - THOUSANDS OF THEM, COMING OUT OF NO-WHERE, ATTACHING GRAPPLING HOOKS AND POISON-LACED ANTENNEA TO EVERY NOOK AND CRANNY OF THIS GREASED-UP WIRE, SLIDING DOWN IT LIKE 100 DEATH-LACED SNAKES READY TO SPIT AND STRIKE AT ANY ORRIFICE OF MY EXPOSED NUBILE BODY?

please for those of us who arent mr americans, explain what "drug trade" is in american (preferablly british english) for us?

it has incredible everything a show can have.

it shows you how drug trade mostly works in all major cities. it has amazing character development. it has amazing plot development. it has amazing everything.

tl;dr, but watch the whole season and you will be stunned.it's slow at the beginning but enjoy all the details.

my point is you're shitting on it being very unrealistic when it is actually extremely realistic and basically exactly how the drug trade is in america in the big cities anyways. well its as close as anything gets anyways.

cell phones are easily tapable. once you can prove the person uses the phone for drugs then GG that cell is done.

with payphones and beepers with codes it is much harder to get taps on them. plus you switch up which payphones you use so even when they tap them they are always behind. its basically a way to manipulate phone tapping laws in america etc.

just watch the show and learn. you cant just explain why the wire is good very easily. its a very complex show. the first few episodes are indeed probably the slowest of the show but i dunno i was hooked pretty instantly.

First few episodes are very lame cause you don't know any of the bad guys yet, and intead of investigating they are still setting up shop. Once they start going under-cover and wire-tapping it gets really good

I didn't care for the first season that much either tbh, the second season and beyond was fantastic though. You and your boyfriend just need to watch the rest of the series and then you'll understand.

The Wire is probably the best TV drama ever.

Watching The Wire is like reading a good book.
