I have infinite movies to watch but I'm wonderng, since I don't have a TV and don't follow any shows, what TV series have I missed in the last X years and what should I be watching?
I generally read anime threads and see people whining about how whatever they're watching sucks in various ways, and so I don't think there's any anime worth watching since I saw Higurashi and Elfen Lied. I am watching Highschool of the Dead although it's just because it has an interesting theme.
As for series, I last watched The Shield which was EPIC, and lately Leverage, which is really fun.
I have NOT seen the latest Dexter series and that is something I could catch up on, and I have NOT watched House, which is supposed to be brillant.
So what series have you been into that you would REALLY recommend to someone?
TELL ME WHAT ITS ABOUT AND WHAT ITS LIKE AND WHY ITS GOOD |

Anime: Samurai Champloo was short and solid, just the way I like anime to be. What really shines is its creativity, focusing on real Japanese culture mixed with modern themes like beatboxing and etc..
Monster is good too. weird but good nonetheless.. You might have seen these already i spose..
TV: Breaking bad! damn good acting by the main character. I feel that it captures the psychological effect of a everyday father going through impending death really well. The guy is a chem teacher who turns to making crystal to leave money for his family before he dies and in the process developing a new personality that he begins to prefer.. I recommend.
The Wire of course... if you haven't watched it |

The Wire is amazing but a lot people find it boring. Its too complicated for everyday people to like I suppose... |

i didnt find it complicated, i watched 5-6 episodes and me and my friend thought it was just rediculously bad, and boring. feel free to explain it a bit better, you're hear to enlighten and not just spew 1-line sentiments for no reason right?

Entourage - if u havent already watched it.
Eastbound and Down - american comedy, decent series and series 2 is coming out in a few weeks.
Peep Show - UK comedy show, one of my favorites is going in to its 7th season this year.
Saxondale - UK comedy starring Steve Coogan as an ex-roadie turned pest controller
Alan Partridge - UK comedy starring Steve Coogan as a radio DJ and ex-TV presenter. His best work.
Scrubs - youve probably seen it, but anything up to season 5 is good then it starts to get shitty. Dont bother with the new ones.
Malcolm in the Middle - one of my favourite sitcoms, worth watching, isnt quite as good in the later seasons but it still has its moments.
Flight of the Conchords - NZ folk band duo trying to make it in America, very funny. |

I didn't mean to offend you if I did. By complicated I mean it has a lot different stuff going on at the same time so it's harder to pay attention to, making it tedious to watch in comparison to say.. Heroes or something. It's for people who don't mind sitting there and pay attention for hours at a time. |

House - Dexter - Boston legal(Why has this not been mentioned!?)
Might want to catch up on Stephen Fry's QI (Quite interesting) if you're double tasking (Wouldn't be able to watch a single series of it without doing something else tbh) |

House is well done, but extremely repetitive.
- Spooks : the first couple of seasons are awesome, the rest is pretty good (it's British, might be harder to find). A spying series where the life expectancy of the heroes is not 95 years.
- Six Feet Under : 6 seasons of pure awesome. I waited a long time before watching it, because how could a series centered around an undertaker family be that good. Well, it is that good.
- Firefly : in the space western genre. Be sure to watch the episodes in the right order, not in the order they were aired. |
