mtt live lapt lima 2700$ buy in
quick overview : we were down to 250 players of 375 just top 40 was going to get payed , some extra details : had 2 big fish who luckboxed and had a ton of ships on my right so if i bad beat and double up my move have better ev imo , also since the bubble was so distant and i had been running like shit i though i had to take some marginal decisions to have a chance average stack was like 40bbs.
sb and bb were nits and maybe scared money
my hand K2s
blinds 400/800
efective stack 20bbs
pot = 2200 ( with antes)
how much do i have to call = 800
how much my oponent will have to call if i go all in = 19200
his range now : all hands
his calling range : top 6% of hands
so according to all in expert program my shove was good is anyone here good at math and can help me out here ? |

you're on button i'm assuming, right?
i'd raise to 2200 and fold to raise/shove. you still have room to maneuver with 20 bbs, even 17.5
if villains on blinds are as tight as you say they are, raising with any two for ~2.5 bb's should show immediate profit (this is assuming you have cutoff or button)
i don't like the shove |

um, if bb has to call 19200 that means you have 20k at 400/800, or 25bbs.
I have no idea what this "how much I have to call" business means, but I take it theres no limpers in front of you, so blinds are 400/800 with 100 ante?
And if you think sb/bb = scare money nits, theres no point raising even 2200 imo. 2.5x is 2k, and if they're as nitty as you say they are, you can get away with even 1.8k probably.
The point of raising slightly bigger as grindasaurus suggests is to not give bb a good price to play some marginal hand, but if they're just nits playing ABC, not much to worry about there. |

hmm yeah im mainly cash game player and well this hand showed my lack of experience in big mtts (i qualifty through a satelite) so how many bbs less do i have to have in order to make shoving better than just raising 2.5x with a hand like that? |

For your situation with 24 bbs if you only want to shove or fold....
CeV for
100% hands: 20807
top 50% hands: 19443
JJ+: 19333
0%: 19200
If their range is top 6% of hands: 88+, AJs+, KQs, AQo+ you have 10 bbs AND the blinds were nitty enough not to adjust their ranges AND they won't just flat a raise AND they won't 3bet lighter than their calling range then you could 2.5x 100% of buttons and win 2200 94% of the time, and of the times they have top 6% and decide to get it in AND you only call when you have greater than 33.7% equity which would be 22+, ATs+, KQs, AQo+ against their range and fold the rest of the time. That would be a 29% increase in stack value from raising the button, but there are a lot of ifs.
Basically if you think their ranges aren't changing and they won't 3bet lighter than their call-shove range feel free to exploit their tightness by just raising all buttons and folding to 3bets. |
