I dont have the hh, but I was in a weird preflop spot that kinda stumped me a few days ago. Villian seems pretty decent TAG raises OTB to 30 I make it 100 in SB w AQo 100bb stacks, he make it 175. Ive played with him some HU a day before and he seen me 5b jam rly weak stuff and was 4betting an unpolarized range for value, but this is on a 5max table and not the same day. So by conventional wisdom its bad to call 4bets oop, but with this sizing I feel rly awekward jamming and Im not sure how often a small 5b would induce a jam if ever. So I thought that calling here with this specific hand might be best, but of course that would make me very unbalanced here and easy to play against... what are your thoughts?

With those supersmall 4bets I tend to just call and see a flop because when people 4bet that small and they have a decent range in doing so, I usually assume they're bad in the first place and can easily outplay them postflop. You're getting ridiculous odds on a call anyway.

Are you stacking off if he makes it 210-220(normal 4b size)?
If yes, then only his sizing is bothering you.Shove and take a note what he is doing it with.If you didn't want to stack off, then maybe call is ok.

takechip always uses these small 4bets, I hope people don't assume he's bad

Well it's probably because people fold too much against the small 4bets, but when someone good does it then yeah I usually assume they know what to do with it. Most bad players copy good players though and have no clue what to do with a supersmall 4bet when called.

I already established hes not bad in the OP, hes not takechip but he seems decent enough, obv vs some donkey its an easier decision but the whole crux of the hand is that im oop vs some1 decent.

I think it's important to define that this is not a small 4bet, it's a MIN 4 bet and we are never ever folding no matter what we are holding getting 4.5:1 here. The problem is it's very difficult to play post flop being oop and having no information about his min 4betting range. My solution would be to jam your AQ this time to get some info about his min 4bet range so you know how to play your 78s post flop the next time he does this.

i think a lot of regs are leveling themselves in these spots. You have to realize you're not in a tough spot at all. Ur just in a very marginal spot. Nothing you've described in the OP suggests this is a tough spot, just a marginal spot

for instance: you say one thing that should lead u to shoving, then u say another that should lead you to calling... like u have a scale in front of you and u put on the weights and they're evenly distributed between shoving and calling

If this hand was in the same day as when you played him HU and were 5 bet jamming junk... then this would be a snap shove
but it isn't, but he has seen you 5 bet junk

if you're not sure whether calling or shoving is best here... on the flop... then shoving is by far better because

1) at worst it can't be too big of a mistake

2) you will avoid making potentially very bad mistakes post flop

imo his edge post flop is going to be greater than the edge he will have vs ur preflop shove.
