No, I would fire again on the turn.

If he's willing to draw with a 3, then that means 5x and 55 are in his range as well. Seeing as this donk played Q3s, his range contains a CRAPLOAD more than just 3x.

If I were raised on the turn then I might call and play it carefully on the river. If I were flat called, I'd bet the river and call a decent sized raise as well.

Basically I believe the correct play would have been to lose more money.

3 BET PF!!! Otherwise your are going to have too many people with random cards like this.

As played not surprised he called the flop he may well have thought his hand was good at this point - you may well have bet out with 2 overs.

Hate your river call - especially as you checked the turn - if you were scared by the straight on the Turn its still there atthe river and now you have added another overcard for him to pair to beat you.

i dont think you can be too result oriented with this hand. Like edzwoo said no matter how crazy it sounds, "the correct play is to lose money". You gotta bet the turn here and just flat call the river.

Fuck the bullshit

You need to 3bet TT for value against players this loose
I agree on firing turn
As played river call is fine without a read (but there are definitely players who you have to fold this against)

definitely bet turn, think about his range/calling range that you get value from

You got donked, shit happens.

If you think this guy raises PP from EP then i think checking turn for pot control and c/c river is fine too but i play overpairs way more aggressive than you did.

Everything in this post just tilted the shit out of me.

You don't NEED to be 3betting this pre. Flatting is just fine...it's taking the set mining route and hoping for a decent multiway pot to make the play more profitable postflop. 3betting would have to be a little bigger than normal because of the caller ahead of us...meaning that a 3bet is more likely to fold out hands that we beat at this point. This is assuming that the players are standard tight FR players in raised pots. If you know the players are crazy stations then a value 3bet is definitely fine.

There is no way in hell the guy EVER thought his hand was good on the flop. I hope that was a joke, seriously.

I think after the flop and turn action calling his river bet is fine as long as you think he can try repping the 3 with a wide range because of how you played the hand. If you think he can be bluffing into your "weakness" here then I don't mind a call as a bluff catcher at all. Player dependent but still kind of standard imo.

As for advice on the hand, I would probably fire the turn as a default here because I would expect his range to be much wider than 3x, and his checking again OOP would look to me like a weak 1pair hand most of the time.
