I'm pretty sure this is not even close to how compound interest works, although I can't remember off the top of my head.

Continuous compound interest is PV e^(rt), so it's PV * e^(0.2 * 12) = 11.0231764 * PV.

What he showed was a monthly compounding formula, which is also perfectly valid.
