Villian is 17/14/2 & 3.4% 3bet over 171 hands

I've only been at table about 15 hands, but I've raised the last ~10 hands in a row.

It makes no sense right? What could he possibly have here?

Bet flop. He might be being stupid with an overpair. Against a tight player you're only scared of 99, AA, and KK. In this case the line is only consistent with 99.
Against a player who 3bets lighter, you have to add 67s (and mayyyyybe the other sets) to his range. Either way it's damn close. Basically I would call if you think he thinks you would take a stab with AK. Otherwise, I'd fold and take a note that he slowplays things on dry flops.

Tight 3bettter:

Board: 5h 3d 9c 4s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 45.130% 43.34% 01.79% 534 22.00 { QdQs }
Hand 1: 54.870% 53.08% 01.79% 654 22.00 { 99+ }

Looser 3better IP:

Board: 5h 3d 9c 4s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 39.489% 37.93% 01.56% 534 22.00 { QdQs }
Hand 1: 60.511% 58.95% 01.56% 830 22.00 { 99+, 76s }

The more I think about it, this is 99 or 76s most of the time and AA and KK when the guy is donkish. QQ-, T9s, 98s, and the odd A9s bet the flop (you should too!). I don't think you can ever call this unless you know this guy makes tons of moves in 3bet pots.

he's a nit @ 3.4%3bet prolly playing 10 tables noticing nothing about you.

sir macks your ranges are WAYYYY off

hes prolly slowplaying aces here maybe bluffing a missed ak but pROBably not

this guy isn't 3betting 99 pretty much ever he sethunts

Sicks Macks   United States. Sep 07 2008 18:56. Posts 3929

Oops, missed the 3bet at 3.4%. Yeah that's AA or KK most of the time. But what's so off about the ranges? Yeah he probably doesn't 3 bet 99 or 76s if he's this tight. But no one flats TT+ preflop, right?

The point is, I don't see what slowplays the flop. The only thing that doesn't mind seeing another card is AA or 99. But given that hero checked QQ, you've got to believe villain is capable of the same with TT-KK at least some of the time.

On another note, I thought it was pretty standard to 3bet 99 IP all day at 6max, right?

Sorry for the thread hijack. But I should be 3 betting 99 against frequent raisers when I'm in position, right?

there are some 17/14s that you can 3bet 99 against and some that you can't because not all of them play the same way.

Maybe he was 3betting you light because of your raising the last ten hands.. ? Or he's just a tool who randomly 3bets low PP's trying to hit a set.

Easy to be wise with hindsight but before I saw the spoiler I was thinking AA, either way he is telling you he is making a stand here both with his pf raise and his turn bet and that you are beat. He is being as blatant as he can to tell you he had a hand to start with or by the turn he very definately does.

NL1K is only ever one drink away......
