I'd pot flop, the pot is small and you have a big hand so you want to build it quickly.

thought i had the best hand so i tried to bet small on flop to milk the guy, or is that a bad habit?

Morph1 and Tian said it. You could fold this hand 100 bb + after his turn minraise , you are OOP in unr pot with vulnerable hand. Overall just don't overplay hands in unr pots - at least for me it was a huge leak in the blinds.
