[nl25] ak face shove oop against random opp

new to 6max and nl25, whats the general concensus in a spot like this, random opponent has a starcraft name probably isnt an idiot but for that reason i feel he can have slightly weaker than nuts here

when he 3bet me i was like well fuck hes 3betting the button, i cant just give this up here, so i 4bet, and then he shoved. and then yeah. maybe i should have just folded to the 3 bet, but fuck that .

Personally I like shoving AK when you have some fold equity, I hate calling a shove with it. With no info that he can turn up with completely random shite I fold here.

Edit - and would never fold to a 3bet here unless this guy was a super nit

do you make the 4th bet and for how much? we're okay with putting the $8 out there and giving it up?

I wouldn't make the 4bet in most instances (I would call the 3bet) but as you have it wasn't a massive 4bet and you have no info other than his name, I would fold.

Easily said but you should have an idea whether you are going to call a shove or not before you 4bet (as SfydjkLm says).

i dunno, ako flops really poorly and i'd be taking it out of position; it seems like calling is at best neutral ev :O

Agreed - tough - but I would have a hard time folding to a weak 3bet with AKo. If that's the case then maybe you either need to accept and plan that you will fold or call when you 4bet and get shoved on or 4bet shove yourself.

Personally I think I would still like to see a flop cheaply but agree that it may not be +EV....would be interesting to hear a green star's view.

i'd probably just call here because the 3bet is light and because you're UTG (so presumably there's a good chance he's not 3betting you weakly). bluffing at a 2:3 value is pretty horrible when your hand is ahead of his range, and when you're 4-bet/folding here that's essentially what you're doing.

I 4bet a little larger because sometimes these guys will call and if you miss the flop you're in a shitty spot. You want FE with this move.

Also, I'm pretty sure "g00nkiller" isn't a Starcraft name. Besides random links to the real-world word "dragoon", I'd bet it's more likely the name has something to do with SA than SC. @_@

Remember this is building your image as well among the players. If people start seeing you fold after you 4-bet you'll be easy pickings for the regulars who pick up on this.

flat, AK flops very well and is extremley easy to play in a 3-bet pot in and out of position
