I'm thinking of buying this game,I only played MGS1 and absolutely loved it...

get it if you're a fan of the series, otherwise don't waste your time. 95% cut scenes is no joke.

i just finished MGS3 on PS2 last night, and I'm tempted to go out and buy a PS3 just to get MGS4 and see how the story wraps up. I don't think you should get MGS4 before playing MGS2 or MGS3 because every game adds a lot to the story and feel of characters.
