do i call this bet and fold river ( on river: fold to 50$ in 100$ pot )? or fold here cause he should have something that beats me and will always continue on river? or maybe it's a no brainer shove?

he probably makes calls like this pf with something like 88. maybe 22. but i think he would also be able to do that with AQ/AJ and some bigger pairs like JJ/KK/QQ/AA (but AA and KK are very unlikely) i could understand his flop call/turn lead with most of those holdings. i would def think im usually ahead here. but i'd like a call more because he is never drawing too many outs and you might get more value from the AQ/AJ and some rare Arag suited cards i guess.

on the river i would def bet if checked too and call if bet too.

also i don't think this is a set hardly ever and he could be making a blocking bet with K's, Q's, or J's and not plan on folding to a shove

shove or flat / call a shove or shove if he checks, both are fine this is a 100% no brainer who cares what his stats are TPTK with AK in a 3-bet pot for 100bb is the ABSOLUTE nuts

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same

@Tim how is this a set hardly ever. apart from the fact that they are rare anyway?

randomly potting preflop is not good when it results in a pretty bad 3bet size; I would raise it up to like 12 to ensure that no one overcalls with decent set odds - unless of course I expect shortie to overshove and then I attempt to isolate the other caller(s).

utg donks 2x and you repop button to 12 with ak? thats a pretty bad overraise in my view. i raise this to 7-8 depending on how often i expect V to call the raise. the fact that SB villain overcalled doesnt really give reason to overraise button either

Haven't noticed we have the button sry; I still raise it up a bit more to than 7.5 I think

I think that most players wont play a set like this (although it is a good play against a thinking player).
So I think you are up against a weaker ace or worse. I might prefer to call turn and call/shove river to extract more value.
I agree that your 3 bet size is quite small, I would raise to ~10

piratematerial   Netherlands. Jul 11 2008 06:23. Posts 773

raising to 7 seems perfect imo. 6 would do. we have AK in position. we want action

The72o   Zimbabwe. Jul 11 2008 06:41. Posts 6112

but we also want to have HU action and some value out of it
i would go for 8

idk, i just never see people play sets like this...evvvvver

i suppose it is possible but i think most of the time he's going to be c/r'ing flop or continueing to trap on the turn
