hand 1, i shove turn cause you still have tons of equity.
hand 2, board is so drawy that i'll snapcall, plus you have backdoor nutflush draw which helps too, and you know he doesn't have Ax suited
hand 3, it's possible he has a set, or something like 78hh since he was leading the turn so big, probably a good fold

1: 10 outs on the turn vs a flush. If you put more money into the pot, you should be shoving. Imo folding is possible too...I don't really understand what we're in such a hurry to take an 80-20. 5nl donks are pretty stupid but don't pull moves. Sometimes you'll see a busted backdoor spade on the river but it's very rare.
2: Call. You also have the backdoor clubs. ;D
3: Standard fold, not much you beat. Qx is teh lulz.
4: I guess you guys are deep so you're folding turn. But I'm a lot more comfortable raising it up on the flop. You see AT/heart draws a lot,

Hand 1: You should absolutely bet more on the turn. You have 10 outs to beat a flush that you're not sure whether he really has! When you bet half pot, it looks like you're really afraid of the third spade on the board. Some people would try to push you off the hand because it's so cheap to raise. Since he checked to you, bet pot. If you think HE has the flush, he probably thinks YOU have the flush.
Hand 2: Don't fold an overpair, unless the board is something like 9hThJh or something. Just... don't. Haven't you seen what these morons will go all in with? Even if he's not a total nutcase, how do you know he doesn't just have KK or a lower overpair? The lower the board compared to your overpair, the more willing you should be to go all in.
Hand 3: This is fine. At full ring, folding TPTK to a turn raise or an overbet on the river is good.
Hand 4: The flat call PF and show of strength on the flop is suspicious. But without reads, since this is NL5, I'm happy to get it in on the flop. It could be anything from AT to QQ.
At NL5, if you never fold an overpair, you will definitely lose some big pots. However, you will win much more than you lose. Why not take "never fold an overpair" as the default line, and then post some hands here with villain stats/reads and slowly figure out when your overpair might not be good? That will be a cheaper lesson than folding overpairs just because you don't get a bet/call flop, bet/call turn, bet/call river line. |
