Villain is a (I believe) winning regular heads up player at this level. We have been two-tabling each other for a short period of time and he is down 2.5 bi without a single showdown (literally). We have only played three or four 3b pots, and in the only notable one I half potted three streets and he flatted down to the river which he chose to fold.
My plan was to c/r the turn if he bet a reasonable amount as a probable value-bet but of course drawing potential if I am behind. I had this plan on the flop fwiw.
His overbet threw me off, any critiques?

You are giving him so much room to try to bluff you out that i think you are definitelly ahead of him enough for this to be a profitable call.

in this situation your hand always looks like 99-QQ to your opponent
he could be shoving as a bluff, he will always be shoving a king here, with what frequency of king:bluff is player dependent
unless you have a sick read you have to call here to a. see his hand and b. set the tone for the match to make it easier to fold later on when you think he wont have the balls to try and bluff u
u have sick outs anyways

u have to call if you're checking this flop and turn brings draws.
i think in a HU match a lot of the time i prefer bet flop, check turn check river with intention of calling.
this flop doesn't really get raised but can be floated a lot, and betting the flop also disguises your hand more. you still usually only lose the same amount sometimes less if you're behind.
