I have another hand here I'd like to get some input on..
I put him on a set of J's, soooo I knew I was behind right there. But I figure I had 13 outs over two streets, assuming the board didn't pair and blow me away. Should I only do this when I have like 18 outs? (so something like flush + open ended straight instead of gutshot)
Oh, I put him on the set of jacks because he raised preflop + called my 3bet and has like a 4% preflop raise
I just pokerstoved this hand, and I had 34% equity. My pot odds then (not considering fold equity, which I think is minimal here vs a guy with top set). $4 in pot + his call = $8.12, it cost me 4.14 for a shot at it. So 2:1 pot odds, 3:1 chance to win. That is about break even, and a little +EV with his small chance to fold(in this situation).. or no?
I want to say I think that this is definately +EV if the guy wasn't a donk-- I could of very easily had 89(I raise with it), or if he had a lower set I could of had a higher set. Because of this I would of had much higher fold equity..

you put him on top set and shoved over a minraise
-.-a
just call, see if you hit the turn, and if you do then open shove for value. if not, check/fold and cut your losses. same profit when you get there, lower losses when you don't
when you have a strong draw on the flop but you know your opponent won't ever fold then just call and try to hit it. if you miss, save some money. if you hit, then you're gonna get paid off anyway |

Thanks all.
I know the minraise PF was retarded but I had been at this table for a long time and he hadn't cold called any PF bets/raises. It sort of helped me make sure I knew he wasn't just getting bored and betting something he wouldn't usually.. I never minraise here anymore, otherwise.
Thanks Myth, good point when I am 90% certain they won't fold to my shove anyways. |

didn't read all of that....but if you put him on jacks and he's going to pussyraise you on the flop, take your free card. You'll still get a bit of value if you hit. Just have the discipline to fold if you hit an A or K. |

yeah if you can put him on top set from a minraise then in making that minraise he made a huge mistake and let you draw cheaply to your good outs
with top set hes definitely calling at least one big bet if you hit |
