WARNING: pretty long post that may easily create scam suspection and thus may get responses like 'boah, scam' and the usual epic-fail replies, especially because its a ticket-with-reduction offer from someone with hardly any posts. However I would be pleased if you at least read carefully before replying.
Ok, here's the thing:
I'm a low stakes poker player, playing mainly on Betfair poker, mostly grinding my way op in 100NL cashgames currently. I've been lurking here for a while, but am mainly posting on a Dutch poker website (www.pokercollege.nl).
A while ago, in a Raketherake freeroll, I won a ticket to a $525+25 satellite for a WSOPEurope package. Notwithstanding my lack of tournament skills, I happened to win that satellite, suddenly leaving me with a $24k package, including a $20,700 ticket for the WSOPE2008 main event (its £10,000+fee buy-in, which they fix at $20,700 exchangerate wise). Its the tournament that Annette_15 shipped last year and will take place around mid September, although Harrah's London and Betfair haven't decided yet about the exact dates.
But, and I guess you can feel this coming, I won't be able to participate. Poker is plainly not my source of income. I work, after graduating a year ago, currently at a UN organization in Geneva, Switzerland, and will be sent off to the Fiji Islands in the Pacific in a couple of weeks, to run a project there, for a really good salary. For me, both career and travel wise, its a big chance. This project will run at least until September, and around the WSOPE, it will be in a pretty crucial fase. Second, since I am only a 100NL grinder, with hardly any live tournament experience, $20,700 is a HUGE sum of money to me, and furthermore, I'm pretty sure I have no edge at all in this big event. Plain and simple, the actual cash value of the ticket is currently far more valuable for me than taking a shot in a tournament with probably a pretty tough field, for which I do not actually have time anyway.
Now, the first natural thing to do in this event was to ask Betfair poker for a cash alternative (like Pokerstars does standardly with some of their WSOP ME tickets). However, since Betfair is sponsoring the WSOPE, they are committed to sending a certain number of players, and in their terms and conditions, they make clear they are in a position to refuse cash alternatives. However, they allowed me to sell my ticket to someone else.
Now, everyone can see where this is going to:
I'm looking for a buyer for my ticket and since I've been long enough around in lurking this website, I am pretty sure there are some people around here that are willing to play this tournament:
Of course, I'm not stupid, so here are a couple of important things:
1. To make the deal interesting, of course I will offer a reasonable reduction. I understand that for this to be of any interest to anyone, a discount is necessary. Therefore, I am willing to negotiate fairly about a significant reduction. Its not that I would like to sell it for a couple of bucks however, then I'd rather donate it to someone I know well. However, if you are interested in giving a reasonable price, I would much prefer that.
2. I'm fully aware of scams going on in offers like this and want to do everything possible to avoid this and guarantee safety. I read about scams on similar offers regarding WSOP ME tickets and understand that this may look completely the same. The fact of me going to Fiji doesn't really help in it, I fully understand, as does my extremely limited post count. I really expect a lot of trashy reactions on this post, but hey, say for a minute you believe this is not a scam, what would be your solution in my position?
3. Therefore, in case someone is interested, I advise fully to take all kinds of safety measures: for instance you can contact Betfair independently of me, ask whether I have indeed won this ticket and whether it is indeed possible that I sell it to you. Sharing my previous e-mail contact with Betfair with you is also completely obvious.
Furthermore, say, hypothetically, we come to a deal, I fully agree if the funds are kept by a party that both of us trust until you, as a buyer, are absolutely certain that you are not scammed. I know this site is made up of a pretty close and trustworthy community, and I'm sure someone could be found who could, for some interest, keep the money until safety is guaranteed. Hell, if you are serious about this and if you have some credibility here in the community, I dont even mind being paid only after you played the tournament. Simply said, I want to do everything possible to keep this a safe business, and still making some good money out of this.
Maybe nobody here is interested at all in this. No problem, then I will continue to look for someone else. Maybe you are interested or do have another proposal. I'm willing to be flexible a lot, my plain purpose is to sell this ticket. Of course, I'm willing to provide all kind of contact details, account names, but naturally, through PM or other ways of contact.
Thanks for reading, although I expect to see a lot of non-serious posts.....
