PT3 vs PT2

So since now people had time using PT3. What do u guys reckon is it worth it, or is PT2 doign good enough job?

what in gods name are you talking about?!?! i havent had a single problem with PT3 at all, and its like 10x faster than PT2 and much better overall.. the only negative side is that they should five a FAQ to configure the HUD which can take u a while to figure out how to set it up as u want.

PT3 sucks. It felt slow as hell, and the HUD was garbage compared to the PAHUD setup you could make on PT2.

pt3 is fine.

it crashes more then pt2 did but i prefer it's interface.

pt3 is ok but still needs patching. crashes a bit too often and i really think it has missed to import a few hands for me and i dont know how to retrieve it.

pt2 was pretty stable but it was way too slow in every department

Weird, it has crashed on me once and i have a 600k+ hand database so im really pushing it, agreed that the HUD should improve and im sure it will in the next version, but im still wondering why nolan and ggplz say it sucks, care to elaborate?


I imported 600k hands at a very good speed (less than 1h of importing) and in PT2 trying to import something like 50k hands at once would take over 1h and it would crash.

does anyone elses PT3 layout fuck up whenever they resize the window while viewing the 'general' tab?

@Baal, The hud really needs a lot of work and generally im not impressed by the layout of the info inside the tabs. Also it just feels pretty unnatural to use and i dislike that a lot.

just in case ppl are finding PT2 slow, make sure u google how to convert to postgresql it makes PT2 million times faster. no comment on PT3, havent used it or bought it, probably wont until ppl say that the hud is equally as good as pahud.

only real advantage i see for PT3 besides asthetics is the 3bet/4bet stats which sound pretty invaluable

i used PT2 with postgresql and PT3 is still 10x faster

Fuck it i won't pay again for basicaly the same thing with a better interface, i don't even exploit 15% of PT2 so far.

pt3's update speed is monsterrific.

PT3 does not show my stats on a certain table everytime I guy leaves a table. Also, HUD is fucking unreadable and transparent... it uses a lot of space and even though you can resize the letters, its still sux.

They need to add back the HUD layout manger for those that really want to customize their hud. I can't find it in PT3 if it exists.

PT2 is not slow at all as long as you have a decent computer

And pokerEV is not compatible with PT3 as well

the PT3 hud freezes your computer if you're playing more than like 6 tables.

maybe my computer is junk but im pretty sure thats not the case

the part that tilts me the most is the black squares around the number, even when there is nothing they will appear.

pt3 sux pt2 cock imo. bought it a month ago, now i want to spit on it.

PT3 puts me on tilt. It crashes in the middle of the session for no reason, and i have to reboot the system to meke it work again! wtf how could they release such a unstable product.

you can change the font size in the HUD configuration.

Yeah, you can set the transparency, font size - EVERYTHING is configureable.

As for the layout - after you move the boxes where you want it in a table, there is a "PT" button on the top center -> choose save layout from a drop down menu there. After this, all the tables you open will have this layout.

Oh and moving the boxes is done by drag'n'dropping with right mouse button.

The update speed is very nice compared to PT2 and the only downside to using it (imo) is that it has occasionally crashed.

I noticed that PT3 only tends to crash when your stats checking your stats whilst importing, refreshing stats, looking at graphs etc. If you just leave it to do its thing its fine

ive played without pt or a hud for like 2 months now and i destroyed 25nl-100nl. you dont need pt or huds to be good.

fwiw, the only thing i care about is how much im making, which can easily be tracked by remembering your roll at the start of the session, and noting what it is at the end. dont really care much about winrates or saving every hand so i can make pretty graphs to tilt myself with later. imo poker tracker is a glorified tool that few ever use to its maximum capability.

PT3 HAS SO MANY BUGS ON VISTA, HOLY SHIT! Mine stops working ever 2 hours and i have to restart it. Also it sometimes displays stats on only 1/2 my tables, and I have to restart it again to display it on all tables. All in all it can be a good program as long as all the bugs are fixed.

I`m also using PT2, eventhought I bought PT3. To many bugs with the Hud. My stats keep appearing and dissapearing randomly and it gets laggy when you play more then 4tables on PS. Also, I hate that they didn`t incorporate a memory scanner, like in Pahud to be able to see stats for players in your database, before actualy sitting down at a PS table. Game selection is a piece of cake with Pahud, but sucks with PT3.

Hopefully they fix these issues with future updates.

Bigbobm, it's prolly possible to beat those stakes without seeing any cards too. PT has very little to do with it.

PT is a great tool for analyzing your game and an awesome aid when multitabling. It doesn't substitute skill, but it can increase your edge on these stakes when the player base is huge and you don't necessarily remember all your encounters.

Knowing your winrate is mostly just telling you how well you're crushing the stakes which is a good indicator when planning on moving up.

I use XP myself and have very little trouble with PT3.

anyone here who thinks the hud looks different, you do realize it takes about 10 minutes to set the hud in pt3 exactly in it was with pt2

no, it doesn't.

and I don't mean it doesnt take 10 mins I mean it doesn't look the same.

pt3 hud is completly configurable and runs ok

i use XP too... it might be an issue with Vista and PT3.

PT3 was released as a direct result of Holdemmanager which severely spanks the shit out of PT2/3.
