Say someone is 3betting at least 50% of his BBs, and is generally playing ultra-aggressive.
Would you just tighten up OTB a little bit (anyone care to say how much) and then call and play for stacks when we hit with the rest, except the strong hands, which we 4bet/get in PF ?
Just curiouse how other people approach such players.... |

By maniac you mean exactly what? Raising every single hand? 3-betting you constantly?

Start limping the button and/or 4bet bluffing. |

never limp button either, tighten up a bit otb preflop
4bet/fold trash hands, 4bet/call weak aces
flat everything else and own him in position
unless hes the kinda maniac that will get everything in, then you need to start 4bet shoving ATo, KQo and shit for value instead of just flatting in position to rape his life |

manics go broke very fast, I'd suggest taking their money before someone else does |

| A Handicapped parking sign does not signify that this spot is for handicapped people. It is actually in fact a warning, that the spot belongs to Chuck Norris and that you will be handicapped if you park there. | |

i dont mind limping 22-66 against a player 3 betting 50% of bbs if hes the latter maniac (does a long term player like this really exist?) just because is you 4b shove these hands he can suck and still play well vs those hands, plus its likely that you'll get good value out of it when you hit since he'll want to multibarrel low boards |

fair enough but against a person 3 betting 50% of their hands it is profitable for you to put as much money in preflop with a hand like 66, if the board is bad you can fold and let yourself get bluffed, but if you hit your set you're good to go and if hte board is good you can get him to fire into you big and you can shove on him and he'll a. call with worse or b. fold (these will happen much more often than the times he calls you with a hand thats ahead of you)and you're getting a lot more money out of him that way in the long run than you are by trying to play small pot flop a set poker against an aggrotard
its very marginal either way, i dont think the profitability of either approach is much different, and i'm not sure which one is better, but the deciding factor in why i'd never limp those hands is cause theres no other hands that i think limping is more profitable than raising with so we cant just be limping only low pairs, cause even a retarded aggrotard can pick up on that |
