berating people worse than you is pretty pointless imo... like what the hell are you trying to achieve other than revealing that you're rattled up about totally standard situations in poker?

fuck it don't berate fish just don't its simple. Poker should be a game for everyone to enjoy, if someones playing bad and chasing against me that might just be the way they like to play. They don't deserve to be berated for it.

From a financial perspective it's probably better not to berate them but thats not the point, let them enjoy the game without getting barated.

I had a hand at the victoria casino in London, £1-3 NL so like $2-6 or w/e £600 buyin, one hand I'm sitting on like 2k or something and my opponent is on like 900, he reraises me preflop I call with 89s flop rags, it all rags and the only bet is my bluff on the river (like £50 into £77 or something), he thinks about it for like 2-3 mins, and then calls with AK unimproved, I of course muck my hand, then he takes his shades off and stares at me for about literally (no joke) 2 minutes with a "Don't try and shit on me" look, so much so that the guy sitting next to me makes a comment like lol@thatguy while he's in the middle of doing it, - this doesn't put the guy off though he's right in the middle of his staring..

I'm obv not at all worried and a few hands later I raise up 77 he calls otb flop comes Q97, I lead for like £14 into he calls and the turn brings out a flush draw 4. Now I'm 99% sure he's got a queen here and not JT but am also quite sure he's just gonna call down if I bet so I check to him and stare at him with the most intense stare I can, he insta bets like £50 into £50, I stare at him for like 30 secods really over exaggeratted so much so that a few of the regulars on the table are laughing (with me I hope) and raise to £180, he then proceeds to take his shades off again and stares at me right in the eyes for about two minutes with a 'i'm reading your soul' kinda look and announces he's allin I obv call and ship vs KQ.

He leaves

Berating fish is one of the most stupid things you can do.
Obv fish plays because he enjoys it (unelss degen), he doesnt earn money doing it. So why one would be dumb enough to try decrease his pleasure from playing.
Berating regs is way more rasonable, but still I prefer friendly atmosphere at the table.

most 'berating of fish' happens just after the person doing the berating just lost a big pot to 'the fish' and can't contain their anguish. And the person who won the pot from them is just the natural target for their outburst. Kind of have to feel sorry for poker players so ruled by their emotions, pretty sad and pathetic but they're just human and nobodys perfect.

Kind of unfortunate for you though when some mentally weak idiot reg at your table loses control like that and starts upsetting the fish by berating cause thats def gonna make the fish uncomfortable and ruin their good time and make them less likely to come back. But it's not all bad news, cause if the guy doing the berating sticks around he'll prolly tilt some off. Losing control of emotions is a sign of being weak mentally and people who are mentally soft tend to also have pretty bad tilt control.
