 The fourth season of PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Grand Final started in Monte Carlo on Saturday. 842 is the number of players that started the tourney competing for the largest first-place prize ever of the event: € 2,020,000 ($3,193,822) in prize money.
Day 1 of the Grand Final was split in two as we saw lots of great stars finding their way home on the first day. WSOP champion Greg Raymer, Phil Ivey, Chris Moneymaker, Elky, and 2007 Grand Final Winner Gavin Griffin were among the players that didn't need to wait for the dinner break.
Only 382 returned for day 2, and less than half of that will come back tomorrow for day 3.Among great players that we won't see playing tomorrow are: Gus Hansen, Patrik Antonius and Daniel Negreanu. 2005 WSOP champion Joe Hachem had a strong day and finished it in the top five, with around 250,000. Still in the field are Liquidpokers own MezmerizePLZ (Clay Macguire) and Peachy_keen (Eric Liu) with respectively 52600 and 169100 in chips. Online young shark Sorel Mizzi aka zangbezan24 / Imper1um was one of the representants of the online poker who did well and will start day 3 with 203,200.
We can also say day 2 was good for Norwegians, as three of them are in the top 4. Andreas Hagen, 276,000, Johnny Lodden aka bad_ip / lars-magne, is probably the most constant player of this event, has around 390,000 and for the 2nd day finishes in the top, and chip leader Oyvind Riisem, who managed to built an impressive stack of over 400K.
Tomorrow we will see the money and things will get exciting. Here are the chip counts after the end of Day 2.
