so i have been trying cake poker past two days and saw that they have this bounty gtd $ tourney, where half the buy in becomes a bounty on each player.
I was thinking this is a good idea for tournaments because it would make for an extremely lower variance for people who play crap load of tournies.
Probably would suck ass for the extremely good mtt players, but those are like less than 1% of the players.
Any thoughts? |

Wow, this actually sounds cool. I'd do it, I'm guessing people will spew a lot more. |

sounds bad to me, donkaments are all about the big score. the people who stall to make the money probably love this though. |

trust me bounties are retarded. ive played one today. and i was fuckin carddead for about 45 hands, which means i couldnt even win a blind vs blind, and finally ive got AsQs from the cutoff. folded around me and i raised a standard. button and sb folds, bb calls. flopc came AKx rainbow, bb donkeads (he had about half of my chips), and i obv reraised him allin. and because of the retarted bounty on my head he thought he was committed and called with K3o. ofc river came K and i just said him: cant you see im playing like a 80 years old tight jerk? and he said, sry i thought you got air
yes, sir
never ever play bounties! |

i think they have an independent style sort of like rebuys/freezeouts
it becomes a lot more important to try to isolate the shortstacks/much more profitable to fuck with shortstacks or something |

well i can see they have unique strategies
but all im saying is this style is a definite way of cutting the ridiculous variance which would then lead to more donks wanting to play/learn tournaments which would ultimately lead to more money for the pros hehe
but also i dont think its so clear cut on which style a pro would make more .. cause this bounty thing would increase their roi by a lot.. decrease their big hits by some (not a ridiculous amount because u still have half of the pot there and if u get a big score u r probably going to eliminate a good amount of players)
and it will completely eliminate the huge swings that full time tourney players may face |

seems to me there will be more variance because it will give people more incentive to make bad calls chasing on flops and turns instead of folding and blinding out while waiting to get to the money. You don't want to be constantly seeing showdowns and flipping in tournaments so my thought is this style is bad... |

bounty tournaments are kinda fun, but ones that give half the buyin to a bounty sound pretty awful |

bounty tourney just get people to chase after all the bounty monies i.e. tourney cost 20 to get into 5 dollar bounty they try to get even and just nit thier way up some money and if they lose the tourney they still made profit its smart but its donk poker all over it. its like buying into a 10 cent tourney same results in bounty |
