Tie Break Proposal
Given that ties are inevitable (multi-way ties at that), heres what I propose as a tie-break:
At the concluding on round 3, all teams within 1 point of the lead, meaning you can realistically still catch the leader of your respective group, you will submit a "X team in Y# of games"
For example, if InSideOut & Fraser finish with 9 points each while KrappyKonnect & musclewheels finish with 8 points each after this round and the Stanley Cup Finals is between Detroit and Pittsburgh, each of you will pick a team, as well as A team that will win in a number of games. Meaning, you can pick Detroit as your pick, but go with Pittsburgh in 6 for the tie break.
The purpose of the latter part is to settle a tie in case there is one, not to be awarded a point to your tally.
Scenario A
InSideOut - 9
Fraser - 9
KrappyKonnect - 8
musclewheels - 8
InSideOut & Fraser picks Detroit to win
KrappyKonnect & musclewheels pick Pittsburgh to win
InSideOut picks Detroit in 5
Fraser picks Detroit in 6
KrappyKonnect picks Pittsburgh in 5
musclewheels picks Pittsburgh in 6
Result 1: Detroit wins in 5. In this case, InSideOut scoops group 1
Result 2: Detroit wins in 6. In this case, Fraser scoops group 1
Result 3: Detroit wins in 4 or 7. In this case, Fraser and InSideOut chops group 1 + Show Spoiler +
alternatively, for you guys to decide, we can play closest to the actual number, so if Detroit wins in 4, InSideOut would be closer therefore he wins. BUT, problem with this is, if one of you picks sweep and other picks the same team in 6, that creates a 2nd tie, so up to you guys if you want this or not
Result 4: Pittsburgh wins in 5. In this case, KrappyKonnect scoops group 1 by catching up in points and winning the tie break.
Result 5: Pittsburgh wins in 6, In this case, musclewheels scoops group 1 by catching up in points and winning the tie break.
Scenario B
InSideOut - 9
Fraser - 9
KrappyKonnect - 8
musclewheels - 8
InSideOut picks Detroit to win
InSideOut, KrappyKonnect, & Fraser picks Pittsburgh to win
tie breaker
InSideOut picks Detroit in 5
Fraser picks Detroit in 6 despite picking Pittsburgh to win for his point
KrappyKonnect picks Pittsburgh in 5
musclewheels picks Pittsburgh in 6
Result 1: Detroit wins series, InSideOut scoops group 1 by having most points
Result 2: Pittsburgh wins series, Fraser scoops group 2 by having most points
How does that sound as a potential tie break?
System can be implemented in 1 group but not other, so speak up for your respective groups.

For round 3 picks, they must be posted (or edited) OR received via PM (to me) before Thursday at 7:30 eastern/4:30 pacific. You have 2 days to get the picks in, so no late picks will be accepted. If you do not get the picks in, you don't get points for this round. LP time will be official time.
If the time stamp of your edit is AFTER 7:30ET/4:30PT, that will have to be treated as a late pick, therefore null & void for the round. |

yah, but thats assuming you make up the one point difference AND get the tie break. Right now Nolan & I are tied, so technically you have to make up ground on both of us for the final round. |

why not just run 1 point/game for the final series? |

because that makes the last series worth a lot more than the previous ones. Plus having everyone to submit a pick before the game will be a nightmare |

people just submit a series
game 1: pittsburgh
game 2: pittsburgh
game 3: detroit
etc.
the final round should be worth more than the other ones, its a closer match-up. the first round was worth 8 points and contained the easiest picks, but that means theres only 7 points total left in the other rounds. |

i think if youre such a noob that you have to pick diff. teams to win because your pre-semi's guessing skills were whack then you have to suck it up and gambool.
that way seems more fun anyways. |

I don't get this part.. Also, in this scenario if detroit wins then arent me and insideout tied unless he gets the games right? |

yah you're right, I fucked up in typing/thinking last night. I was going for something like InSideOut & KK picks Detroit while you and wheels pick Pittsburgh to win. I'll go fix the scenario. |
