What is the best cell out there right now and what are you guys using?

I went through a nightmare pre ordering the iPhone 6 which failed so i've been getting the absolute most out of my 4s. Met my dad downtown for lunch on fathers day and he was at the Verizon store so I decided to grab a new phone finally. Super done with iphones, I pretty much hate them now.

I went with the Galaxy S6 while my dad and brother took the droid turbos. They were the same price pretty much with the upgrades. 200 for the droid mine was 250 (thought it was advertised 199.99 but I only saw that online). I liked mine a lot better but I guess they smash their phones a lot and wanted bricks.

I skipped over the galaxy s6 edge with the curved screen cause I thought I would just be paying a 100 bucks more for a novelty screen that would be easier to break. However, now a day later I want to go back and get the edge. Unfortunately now it is going to cost me a restocking fee plus the difference in price plus the effort of dealing with a phone store which I'd pay another 50 not to have to do.

Anyways does anybody else have the s6 edge and love it? Is it worth me going back to switch?

I suppose I'm looking to get talked out of the edge so help me out

Just more your neighbor can read off your phone while you're using it. Im still using a note3. No contract plus "old" phone is the way to go in the cell phone world.

Alcatel one touch - costs ~100-120 brand new. I had a sony xperia Z, but after literally one good drop on a concrete floor it would have cost ~250 just to get the screen fixed. That pissed me off.

It's nowhere near as flashy as most, but it calls and texts. And I can play CoC, so wtfever.

i have the iphone 6 +, note 4 and the samsung 6 edge.

im unhappy with all the phones

the edge is super sexy and personally i think more than anything the $100 is worth it based on the way it feels in your hand alone. I mean thats mostly what your asking so that's my opinion.

in all honesty within 4-6 weeks the novelty of the edge screen of the s6 edge kinda wears off but basically i like it over the regular s6 because it feels better in hand.

as for "what is the best cell out there and what are you guys using"
i think the note 4 + iphone 6 plus + samsung s6 are all the best phones currently out. u can add the nexus 6 if you really like stock android. and the g4 ain't bad either.

i got the note 4 originally and loved the camera although i always wished touchwiz (samsung's skin of android) would be much more smoother/useful and less clumsy. theres a 10000000 features to the phone and sometimes it gets overwhelming and is always annoying. i never use the stylus. but it has other great features.

i like the iphone 6+ due to the simplicity. this phone honestly stresses me out the least and everything "works." whether you like ios or android, i think its obvious that the ios has a more "polished" feel. fucking joke of a screen though and although i think hardware wise the note 4 takes better pictures, something about ios camera app has always been superior to android one unfort also god damn ios just feels a bit to fischer price-y for me too. but in general i'd recommend ios over android for the majority of the people.

the samsung s6 has a nicer much more useful version of touchwiz but it still bothers me. i still don't think it's all that useful. hardware wise it looks and feels alot like the iphone 6. has 1000x better screen. shoots better video. but these are all hardware specs. i think at this age we're a bit past that and we al know that software matters just as much as the hardware. i think the s6 for the most part is wonderful.

i love my iphone for selfies + social aspect. but miss my note 4
when i have my note 4 i love the really long battery life but i hate using the actual phone with all of its bloat
when i have my s6 i suppose i'm the most happiest minus the fact that i wish it took as pretty selfies as my iphone

it's a lose lose lose proposition.

you should just keep ur s6 regular and be happy with it. or put it on ebay and get the edge.

thanks for nothing mnj.

Need to buy a new phone myself stuck between choosing the OnePlus One or the Moto X. I want the slick looking AMOLED display on the X but the One is cheaper and has more memory and better specs so I'm leaning that way. I'm glad both phones got recent price reductions due to impending next gen releases. Non-contract phones seem very +EV with less expensive service providers like ting or republic wireless.

Verizon has the best service by far and if you become edge they hook it up. I dont see the problem with phone contracts. We are all going to need a cell phone basically every day of our lives. One to two year contracts allow us to get the 800 dollar machines (premium phones) for a quarter of retail. Ur going to have a cell phone expense no matter what so what truly matters is just the average monthly price.

If non contract plans are cheaper then fine go with them for that reason but not because there is anything intrinsically wrong with contracts. Only time they become a problem is when you can't pay the bill, smash your phone too much run out of insurance and need to start another contract to get another cheap smartphone, and can't take advantage of every subsequent cell phone deal that comes along

Oh and from what I have seen contract plans actually offer a better value.

Non contract plans often target the poor and uneducated who don't understand the way the fee structures are set up are worse despite being advertised as a cheaper option to major carriers. Exploiting people with bad credit and few good options. Much like the prepaid checking vs retail banking system and shit like that.

i feel the opposite is true. in general over 2 years contract + subsidized phone will cost the same as full price phone + lower monthly no contract fee.

everything past 2 years tho, and you're losing money on the 2 year contract if you don't upgrade your phone.

Fucking this. I was sold on the waterproof aspect. stupid me. Mind you, I got my first cell phone in Jan of last year.. late bloomer hah.

@ trax - And I 100% disagree w/ you about thinking contracts are better. I'm not sure how contracts work down there in the states, but it's wayyyyyyyyy better to have a phone going in to a contract. It's similar to paying for anything completely up front or getting gouged by interest.

Kinda sucks I'm still paying for an expensive sony phone thats contract won't be done until next Jan. while I'm using this cheap chinese knockoff, but whatever. F sony phones. And F 2 yr cell contracts. Once this contract is up I'm gonna buy some unlocked ~yr old model off a reputable seller on ebay. Save myself a bunch of money.

I think the S6 edge is really nice. I'm sold on nexus devices though. I don't like having to mess with custom roms to get the latest software updates. I have a nexus 5 and am anxiously awaiting the new nexus 5.
