Game of Thrones recasts Three-Eyed Raven with Exorcist star
"Game of Thrones has just cast another acclaimed veteran actor. Silver-screen legend Max von Sydow is joining the HBO hit, EW has learned exclusively.
The famed performer, whose career spans dozens of feature films — from The Exorcist to Minority Report to the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens — has signed on to season 6.
Bonus: We know who von Sydow is going to play, and it’s a character we’ve already met!
Von Sydow will play the Three-Eyed Raven, the mystical tutor of Bran Stark, who was briefly seen in the season 4 finale (where the character was portrayed by a different actor).
The casting comes on the heels of another famed European thespian joining the fantasy hit. On Saturday, EW exclusively reported that Ian McShane (Deadwood) has joined the cast as well. McShane’s role, however, has remained under wraps.
Both McShane and von Sydow are not expected to have a lot of screen time next season, but both roles are crucial in their own way.
Thrones, recently nominated for 24 Emmy nominations, is currently in production, with von Sydow already on set. The series is expected to return for 10 episodes next spring. Last week, HBO’s programming president Michael Lombardo revealed that the network plans at least eight seasons of the show, a bump from the oft-reported seven season plan."
scary men of authority makes me think of sam's dad but I guess they already passed up on his story and can't go back given current story. I guess they could kind of still do Euron...
I watched season 5 again and I found some parts I liked; the high sparrow story was well done imo particularly the guy who played the high sparrow and lady olenna were great and the scenes where they worked together were as good as season 1 imo. Tommen didn't convince me at all. The big visual action scenes (hardhome and drogon in the pit) were also impressive i guess, though they would have been cooler if you hadn't been force-fed unbelievable and pointless action scenes before that (sand snakes, jaime/bronn v random dornish, jorah...). I'm really worried that season 6 will be absolutely terrible since the show writers will be completely ont heir own and they just don't seem to be good storytellers.
Maybe we'll get some more characters who happen to run into each other and have a fight scene together before being broken apart just in time, then some random titty reveals. /shudders
If you like to think, talk and watch GOT stuff. I found that the subreddit for GOT was really cool, tons of cool in depth theories, links, interviews and pictures :-)

I think it could be a situation where they use similar elements to the Lady Stoneheart storyline from the books

He ll just get revived by the Fire god lady aka Stannis's mistress. Question is will there be anything else around that ( like will they have to kill off someone to do it )
Catelyn isn't a " sort of whitewalker " she s human, like the other dude that got stabbed by the Hound and got revived for the 5th time, problem is her throat is slit so its kind of impossible for her to talk.
You did kind of give me a sort of a theory though, whitewalkers could just be the revived people of the north controlled by some sick skilled mage in the end? I am uncertain of what happened @ the continent pre Dragons, think there were constant wars, so there would be tons of bodies to use. Would also explain why Brann has such powers too and whats their link to the big picture

Melisandre uses blood magic, her powers do require some kind of corporal sacrifice and its probably the same magic used by White Walkers, after all they demand newborns and its probably to do sacrifices for blood magic.
Actually in the TellTale game of Game of Thrones there is a girl deep in the north who controls the mind of some wildlings through blood magic to fight against the wights and she requires sacrifices and also it appears to have a physical toll on her too
So it appears the Greyjoys will have a pretty big storyline for this season. That should be good
I think I'm most excited about Arya's storyline for this year. That picture of her looked badass (I think she's warging right?)
