Got some words to eat and some money to earn back, poor start to 2015.

PR do you know if they used the smaller cage for this event or are Alex and Rumble just that big?

It was the regular sized cage afaik. There were too many big guys on the card to use the small cage.

I won my Bader bet, but broke even on my parlay when I hedged with Johnson via KO/TKO. Got raped in all my Kountermove and DraftKings teams. Only gonna bet Nick Diaz for the next card, and then relax and watch the rest without any stress.

Sick I have Anderson at -370. FIGHT!

Bader by decision seems like it would have been a great bet. It wasn't surprising at all to see Bader go even in striking.

Jon Jones may be in trouble guys. This guy is such a fucking destroyer.

Tbh Gustafsson performed really bad plus Jon Jones would never leave so much space to Rumble, he d control the octagon unlike what Gus did, plus he has another 15cm reach advantage :/ Rumble doesn't have a chance unless he flukes imo

This outcome really sucks for the division imo, Gus actually stands a chance vs Jones, while Rumble s odds are more like meh.

Johnson has enough KO power to put Jones away, the guy is one win away from the belt and still there is zero pressure for him. He will be the most dangerous opponent Jones will face by far. Gus had his chance and a rematch will definitely not be like the first fight. Jones will make necessary adjustments and put him away.

How is it that every next title contender at any division is " the most dangerous opponent by far " especially at LHW , people said that for Texeira then for DC yet both guys got demolished

Because when you have a dominant champion that is better in all areas the most obvious way to beat him is with an upset KO. I still don't think Johnson is more technically skilled than Cormier or Gustafsson, but you can't deny that his ability to finish a fight in a moments notice significantly impacts the potential to upset Jones.

No sane person said that about Glover. Just the UFC marketing machine which may have gotten you confused with sensible opinions.

Didn't like DC nor Gus vs Jones. I feel different about AJ though, seeing him crush Davis, Break Arlovskis Jaw in a HW striking war and now with this Gus fight seems like he has a very underappreciated momentum behind him. He also looks like he's under very little pressure which was not the case with JBJs previous opponents. Talks zero trash and acts like he's just happy to be back at the UFC and having fun. Jones has already shown that he can win in close fights but cant put away opponents completely if they take the fight to him

I agree with you that a rematch would look different (I think Jones would probably win it, I think he lost the first), but I don't think he'd 'put him away'. Jones is an amazing fighter but he doesn't seem like a huge finisher to me.

I mean here's who he has finished in the UFC:
Win 18–1 Chael Sonnen TKO (elbows and punches) UFC 159 April 27, 2013
Win 17–1 Vitor Belfort Submission (americana) UFC 152 September 22, 2012
Win 15–1 Lyoto Machida Technical Submission (standing guillotine choke) UFC 140 December 10, 2011
Win 14–1 Quinton Jackson Submission (rear-naked choke) UFC 135 September 24, 2011
Win 13–1 Maurício Rua TKO (punches and knees) UFC 128 March 19, 2011
Win 12–1 Ryan Bader Submission (guillotine choke) UFC 126 February 5, 2011

Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort and Lyoto Machida are all MW sized fighters, as is - to be honest - Shogun. But even disregarding that, the last legitimate finish he had was in 2011, I don't think he's very likely to finish Gus in a rematch.

Hm.. Off-suite socks..Last edit: 25/01/2015 11:04

my mistake for saying put him away. i meant beat him fairly easily compared to the first fight which was really close.

Spitfiree   Bulgaria. Jan 25 2015 18:38. Posts 9634

I agree with you guys, AJ is indeed a great finisher has the power to TKO him, that being said I'd say there s no reason to think it can happen even in 5% of fights they go.
Facts are :
Jones has 18 cm reach advantage
Jones controlled all of his fights except the one with Gus, he managed to control the fight vs DC although DC was well aware that if he lets him, he ll lose for sure. Jones knows how to keep his distance, he instantly makes you regret the attempts to get into his face, and he is just HUGE for the division and the only one by far that managed to get in his face is Gus
Jones got hit hard a lot of times vs Gus and he did not fall and Gus has 13 out of 16 wins with finishes, its not like his chin is made out of glass plus when he gets hit he defends himself very well and ends up regaining control
And this might seem silly, but Jones has the strongest will power in the entire UFC, he does not give a fuck about anything else than winning and obviously adrenaline only amplifies that.

I realize i sound like a fanboy, but I dont think im biased on any of those. Would be glad if someone is actually able to challenge his title, I just don't see Johnson being the guy, I don't even see him being close to able to and an upset KO would be just a fluke

I would say exactly the same thing 2-3 days ago,but AJ reaaly impressed me.Jones gets hit in the last fights. It is like he knows he can take it and doesn't care too much. But AJ hits like a monster.
Jones always goes and fights at his opponents strenght,so i guess he will go for the kickboxing and this is dangerous.Anthony covers the distance very well, even Gus with his very good movement could not stay away from him.
All that said JJ is still the best P4P fighter, has the best fighting IQ,has the strongest will, has a great chin, has the best all round skills than anyone that has ever stepped to fight so...
I think this time Jon will avoid the kickboxing and will go for the clinch and the takedown.I think he will finish him on the ground ,but i am excited about the fight.

I hope the next time UFC comes to sweden there wont be any swedes on it, watching my fellow countrymen go 2-7 in the lest two event have been brutal and really made the live experience pretty bad. The joy I felt when gus walked out was comparable to an MDMA-trip and the sadness I felt when he got knocked out was honestly the worst I´ve felt in a long time.

whamm!   Albania. Jan 26 2015 21:04. Posts 11625

I only hope AJ just does what he does and doesn't go on the defensive too much because Jones is very good at picking opponents apart when they try to play it too safe.
