LOL combat sports and its rigged judges... I wonder how much money that Judge pocketed with this robbery.

Lawler fought like crap I mean... even Rogan was especulating an injury, he did nothing for 4 rounds and only active in half 1st and last rounds what in the fuck, luckily this time he punished the body hard but he still got his legs destroyed by leg kicks... he didnt check a single fucking leg kick.

If this version of Lawlers fights with McDonald he is going to lose, Rory isnt stupid enough to try to jab him again and will probably try to exploit his very clear weak defense against leg kicks

Lawler is so awesome going forward and even good in countering but man he has a low fight IQ some of the time. early 1st and late 5th round he looked like a monster. SUPER intense even after the bell and you could feel his anger/energy in the air. He was simply overpowering Hendricks in these bursts of power. Then in between he basically was going into zombie mode. Defending vs attacks, half assed attacks himself, always scared of the takedowns. If Robbie would just get out of range when he is passive and get in range when hyper aggressive, he would be so much better overall. If he is in range and not attacking himself, he basically just takes punishment and waits for more

Pettis would absolutely starch Aldo, would love to see it though. Aldo needs to fight McGregor, meanwhile Pettis v Khabib, and if both win, you make the fight.

I know as hardcores we want to see it now, but McGregor would make Aldo a much bigger star and Pettis becomes a bigger star everytime he fights, he just needs to stay healthy. Unfortunately, the Khabib fight is the one fight I could I actually see him losing, but hopefully he'd land something huge because Khabib - as much as I love him - is a nightmare champion for the UFC.

Yea Lawler seems to just randomly coast and look like he's not trying to do anything. He did it a lot in strikeforce, and seemed to do it in the first two rounds of the first Hendricks fight. Both him and Hendricks have poor fight IQ. Hendricks was doing great on the feet, and for some reason decided to start stalling with takedowns. Also he threw 1 single ground strike the entire fight. Also when Hendricks lost the GSP fight he said he took the 5th round off because he thought he was ahead. Said he'd never do that again. What'd he do in this fight? Took the 5th round off because he thought he was ahead lol.

Also Hendricks ballooning up between fight camps. Dude was apparently 215 pounds when he started this camp lmao. That's bigger than Chris Weidman. There were lots of rumors that he looked like death cutting weight. And it's not even because he's huge, he just gets fat. Dude needs to get his diet under control.

Khabib will prolly beat Pettis, UFC should know this and avoid that match-up at all costs. Khabib is like GSP 2.0

schaub is on rogan's podcast today and getting reamed.

read this timeline: https://twitter.com/Fight_Ghost

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 23m 23 minutes ago
Schaub won’t admit to himself that he could never beat Travis Browne on any night, ever. “If I get a second round, it’s on”. GTFO.

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 21m 21 minutes ago
Not a fan of Rogan, but he is dishing real shit on Schaub right now. “You looked stiff, you didn’t look like an elite fighter”.

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 20m 20 minutes ago
“I worry about your commitment to fighting and where you stand. You have one foot out the door. A very dangerous space to be” Ha! Damn.

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 17m 17 minutes ago
“You are a smart dude. You know about concussions you have had. The reality is, I don’t see you beating elite guys. You have no fluidity”

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 17m 17 minutes ago
“There is shit other people can do that you can’t do” Schaub just sits there dumb-founded, says to Rogan: “Not sure I agree”. Ha! Funny shit

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 13m 13 minutes ago
Schaub tells Rogan he can wrestle Cain, “you would be surprised” Rogan: “I think you would be surprised. Cain would fuck you up” Hahahaha!

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 14m 14 minutes ago
Schaub says “I beat Crop-Cop”. Rogan dismisses it. “Are you comfortable getting knocked out 3-4 times in the next few years” Good shit!

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 13m 13 minutes ago
Rogan: “This is just reality. I know this is hard to hear”. Schaub looks near tears. Musters up “You are my boy Joe, but I don’t agree”.

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 11m 11 minutes ago
Rogan to Schaub: “You telegraph too much. It is real obvious what you are going to do. You are predictable. Arlovski was a terrible fight”.

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 12m 12 minutes ago
You can tell Schaub was not expecting this. Near tears, and trying to figure out what to say to Rogan.

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 10m 10 minutes ago
“When I look at the performances, you are not an elite fighter. I know what I am seeing. You are not recognizing.” Schaub listening quietly.

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 9m 9 minutes ago
“You are not fighting at that level. You are going to get fucking hit man. I worry. You leave more openings, you have vulnerabilities.”

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 9m 9 minutes ago
Schaub is either going to instantly retire after this interview, or never speak to Joe Rogan again. Rogan spitting mad truth at him.

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 5m 5 minutes ago
“15 minutes with an elite fighter. You can’t do that. Your brain doesn’t get better from punches. Werdum, Cain is another level than you.”

Fight_Ghost @Fight_Ghost · 21s 22 seconds ago
Schaub silent for almost 5 minutes. Just listening. Finally speaking a bit now about GSP and concussions. Schaub seems a broken man.

I'll try and listen to the podcast on Thursday or so, don't have time atm.

Anyway, Schaub did look stiff against Browne. He has more tools than Browne, but if he isn't going to use them correctly, then he won't ever beat a fighter like Browne. I also agree that Schaub does have one foot out the door, as he seems comfortable being in the MMA scene instead of eventually fighting for a title. That being said, Browne didn't look any different or amazing against Schaub, so I will continue to doubt his skills.

Problem is Pettis is too unorthodox, he ll crush you standing, he ll crush you on the ground on his back. Only a guy that can outstrike him can beat him and that wouldn't be too easy either. His last 2 fights were vs very decent wrestlers and he submitted them... You give him an opening for 1sec and he ll take it and finish the match. Melendez could've probably won if he just kept the fight on feet and pushed him as well as he did. Pettis showed his main weakness, he s kind of bad vs mega offensive fighter, I'd say someone like McGregor will crush him for example

Melendez did keep it on the feet for the most part, but Pettis hit him with a quick punch that hurt him, which made Melendez shoot for a take down and then we saw Pettis jump for a guillotine. That being said, thinking Melendez could've won if he kept it on the feet seems less likely, especially since Pettis jumps on an opponent whenever he senses weakness.

Conor McGregor is known as a top notch counter striker; he capitalizes on his opponents mistakes. For example, he TKO`ed Marcus Brimage via counter punching when he saw Brimage throwing the same punches over and over, which were mostly power punches. He did something similar against Diego Brandao, except Brandao didn't have much energy left after his big flurry in the first round and was a sitting duck after he gave everything he had. The fight versus Dustin Poirier ended fast with a shot that grazed the back of Poirier's head iirc, which stunned him and lead to GnP. His fight versus Holloway was competitive, but McGregor tore his ACL during that fight, so we didn't see him fight as good as usual and had to resort to getting a take down to secure the decision victory. Conor has never fought a fighter remotely close to Pettis's level.

To keep the pace up that was giving Melendez success in the 1st round without getting caught by a beautiful counter is improbable for any fighter except MAYBE Khabib, which is why most people who know a thing or two are only really giving him a chance. To say that McGregor would crush him is a hilarious statement. I'd love to see the fight, don't get me wrong, and I don't think the McGregor hype is gonna be easily de-railed (I'm aboard the train) - but to say a pure striker like McGregor would crush the best striker in all of MMA is just a downright stretch, if not blasphemous statement. If you think he's gonna land cartwheel kicks or get Pettis to stand inside of kicking distance and just pure box with him, you're simply wrong. Pettis is MUCH more technically sound, kicks much harder, has proven cardio, and almost any other measurable I would give him the major edge in besides maybe punching power which is very lower on the list of important things in a fight like that.

All that said, I think the dream scenario for the UFC is for McGregor to meet the highest expectations and make a super-fight with Pettis. If McGregor beats Aldo he will already be a mega star, and with a couple more wins Pettis would as well, and don't get me wrong, I know this is all a lot of ifs, but if promoted correctly and all of the previous things were to happen, that's a fight that could break a million buys easy after all the hype and trash talk that would inevitably occur.

Can't wait to see this on video. The audio sounds harsh, but it was something Schaub needed to hear.

Looks like someone uploaded the video already. The usual guy didn't upload it yet.

painful to watch and listen to for sure. but god damnit Schaub really needs to ditch his shitty camp and stop hanging with callen talking about cocks and male asses all the time

I'm fine with Joe being honest with Schaub, but he did it with poor tact as he usually does. Was overly aggressive. Not to mention doing it on a live podcast was incredibly inappropriate.

Here's the official video from the UFC on FOX YouTube page.

----------

After watching the entire 2-hour show, I'm okay with Rogan saying what he said, and how he said it. Schaub asked Rogan for critique, and the video is from Fighter and the Kid, which is Schaub and Callen's show, not Rogan's podcast.

What Rogan said was kind of too one sided imho. As a former fighter and commentator he must know what kind of truth a fighter can handle and cannot handle. I think Schaub can take it to heart but if Rogan would have voiced it differently it would have been more effective. Nonetheless if you look at what he said it was just plain and brutally honest. I believe I can spot a great poker player or starcraft gamer when I watch them play. Like up and coming talents, their thought patterns, how well they adopt etc.
Like I remember back in the day I played Gamei vs IloveOOv when he was playing Zerg and was completely unknown. But right then and there I know the kid was special. I have that stuff very rarely ever, its an instinct. With Pettis I had that in WEC, with Weidman I had that first time I saw him. With Jones I had that the first fight I saw him fight. With Cain I had it when I saw him fight Cheick Kongo.

With Schaub I never had that and will never have it. The reason is he is a Jack of all trades but a master of none.
Good stand up, but not elite. Decent wrestling but maybe middle of the field. Good submissions but that seems the least important in heavyweights and defending is easier than submission. Schaub has a lot of tools and he is athletic for the devision. However he is not the most athletic, nor is he the hardest working. He is surrounded by good friends and yes-men and he seems not to have the same chip on his shoulder he maybe once had. Being financially stable and doing business on the side can be deadly to a fighters career sometimes.
Schaub seems to freeze up in fights, not enough fluidity and not much improvement. He has hit his prime and is on an escalator downwards it seems, maybe Rogan wakes him up and he wants to proof that he is a top tier heavyweight. I mean he came from TUF and is now a known fighter that makes good money. Probs to him, for me he was never top5 material and probably never will be. Saw him fight Gonzaga yesterday and his physic looked better than today. He was quicker and moved better, didn't hesitate as much and was not loading up as much.
Some people improve drastically (Pettis, Weidman, Jones, etc.) and some people are great fighters but not world class and they are not going anywhere. Like a Big Country Nelson, Mark Hunt,Bisping or even young fighters like a Schaub. They all improved parts of their game but they just didn't have the overall commitment, talent and fight IQ to get there and the world elite fighters just have a much higher ceiling and improve at a more drastic rate.

This is a separate video on the subject. It's basically Callen and Schaub responding to Joe Rogan's criticism.

Actually kind of sick that with Brendan's income streams and recent defeat, he does not consider that he could make more money with less drama retiring. I mean brain injuries will become more frequent when he gets slower over the years and if he drops to 205 it might be worse due to the weight cut. I can completely understand why friends are telling him to stop, there is not much to be gained but a lot to be lost. On the other hand he is just a true fighter that wants to compete and that is more important than health or money. Unfortunately Brendan will never be king unless something super drastically changes and he would miraculously change all his flaws. Hope he doesn't stick around for too long
