Here you are saying this, yet the mass media blasts literally tons of news about murders, deaths, suicides and all kind of negative bullshit on a daily basis. If society has to start changing, then games are the last place to start. I do agree on some level with you, but still...

Minsk you think things should not exist just because they don't benefit society or might harm it (debatable that any game no matter the content can even do that)? How do you feel about alcohol, porn, gambling, poker. Freedom is more important than society itself. People should be able to do whatever they like as long as it does not negatively affect others or the environment.

Fear mongering nonsense. No benefit? There's a market for gaming and if this is to someones tastes then they'll enjoy it and hopefully have some fun for 30mins. That's the primary intended benefit right there: fun/enjoyment. If anything, people are being given an opportunity to evaluate how they feel about this ridiculous flawed character killing innocent people for no reason. It could prevent exactly the kind of potentially harmful "ideas" depicted in the game from being acted upon. I think people in this thread are terrified someone is going to play this game and just decide "fuck it, this is it" and pick up their dads rifle and go nuts. Or that the game somehow corrupts society. Complete fear driven BS.

if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhANLast edit: 22/10/2014 15:18

There is no benefit to society by allowing cigarettes or alcohol either so ban too ?

Retarded logic, things do not have to be for the improvement of society for them to be allowed, freedom is far more important than paranoid bullshit restrictions

I like the idea of the game seems fun but the graphics sucks and its probably a shitty game

Play it if you want, don't if you don't. Banning it is ridiculous.

Though I think todays events in Canada are going to give a lot of fuel to the fire in regards to the hatred on this game.

I think that soceity will, should, and does ban things that don't benefit it. Gambling and Porn are both entertainment and are valuable. Alcohol is very valuable. Poker isn't illegal because its not valuable to society. Poker is illegal because there is a struggle over profits, once they figure it out poker will be back. This Hatred game is simply not valuable to society.

Yeah, society does but that doesn't mean they are right to do so. I think societies perceptions on a ton of things are absolutely mislead or wrong. In a lot of cases things are banned out of irrational fear or fear is instilled into the population via media and an intentional lack of information. That can then either put overwhelming pressure on the government to act or it might be the governments own agenda to ban whatever it is, e.g: guns, knives, gambling, porn, alcohol, high power cars, etc. An actual objective evaluation never happens or isn't heard because people are easily manipulated into following other's ideals and interests through fear or ignorance and trusting media.

The trouble with you guys overall is thta you're looking at it from relatively intelligent eyes saying "this isn't dangerous", but in fact all eyes are different.

Yeah, don't make decisions based on fear otherwise you are another cattle in societies heard. Here's the problem with the fearful society you keep talking about:

1. Something bad happens to someone using something safe but offensive or perceived dangerous to some people
2. Those people then try to use whatever happened against the thing they find offensive to get it banned
3. If you don't stand up and protect your freedom to use it, eat it, view it or w/e then it may get banned
4. Laws can be passed and easily if a lot of people are fearful, close minded or don't use it and it's viewed as being simply not worth their trouble.
5. Over time you slowly lose your freedom to enjoy or do anything perceived dangerous, risky, etc.

Yes, guns are dangerous. Cars are dangerous. Alcohol is dangerous. People are dangerous. Lots of things are dangerous but they can still be enjoyed and used safely through training and knowledge. Video games aren't dangerous but even if they were, the tiny micro % that they might be dangerous to doesn't mean they can't be enjoyed by everyone else.

The game just looks shitty and like it has a shit plot. It looks like they are going for pure shock value and are going to try and pretend like they are making some sort of grand statement against censorship when really its just a lack of creativity and a game based on the drek of our society.

I find the idea of the game putrid but am not stupid enough to think it should be censored. Freedom comes with costs, and sometimes those costs are people thinking they are 'breaking the mold' when they are really just putting out tacky non-sense with no upside and only downside.
