It's completely legal. Yet there isn't any other grappling that purposefully injures you without giving any chance to tap at all. It's kinda strange. I wanna say its dirty and ruthless but I dunno. That might just be my hate for Jones and if Weidman did it I might praise him for being so gangster.
wat... its perfectly fine and of couse you are free to tap at any time, Jones cranked him like 4 times
Not until after you are injured though which makes it very unique for submission grappling.

The way to fix Jon Jones mess is to make jabbing with the open palm illegal. As the rules state right now it's only illegal when you actually get poked in the eyes. So Jones exploits that. Refs can only really deduct points when he actually pokes people in the eyes. You need to make open hand jabbing/putting fingers in face illegal.

I smell Anderson fanboys here right? All those dirty fighter shits just not to see the truth that Jones beat people who are really great fighters and Anderson got in the UFC at the time when all the good fighters were getting old and the young ones were not very talented.Agree on Fedor being the GOAT,but he is one of a kind as a fighter and as a person.Have you guys noticed that all the brasilians are holding the submissions for too long?Sure but noone says anything. How many times have you seen guys throwing bombs on unconcious man?But it is OK too right?Did Jones hit someone after he is done or wanted to brake a hand or a leg after someonehas tapped already -no way!!!So comon guys do not act such moralists.
It is like i hear girls talking about MMA- 'OMG how can he hurt someone and like it instead of apologize and kiss his cheak' ?!Get serious guys!
So in your little mind, if you think Jones eye poking is wrong you must be an Anderson fan boy or a girl who cant take violence...
No i think eye poking is bad for the sport. The groin shots are much worse and so are holding submissions and hitting unconcious men to show what beast you are! What do you think about the guys who hit as hard as they can people who are already cold?Is it good sportsmanship or do yoy think it is not dangerous?I have never heard someone complaining about this. Why????Because it is for good meassure right?Very smart!
I said this about the fanboys because alot of people start making shits about Jones just because they can not take that he is 10 times better P4P fighter than Anderson and any other fighter in the history of the UFC has ever been.
Jones is 26,he is smart, his attitude brings the sport to a new level(when you see him fight alot of people who are not MMA fans appreciate what he is doing). He acts mature, talking things that actually make sense ,not dancing like a popstar from the 80's (usually )Even Fedor who is my favourite fighter of all time has not beat such guys one after another. It is unbelievable.

The rule is ok the enforcing is wrong, if somebody is being reckless with his fingers and he pokes somebody in the eyes deduct a point, warnings are given too often for groin shots and eye pokes, its bullshit, they should be given when they were an accident, but when Jones has his open hands all over the place or somebody is continuously kneeing the inner thigh 1inch away from the balls and eventually the inevitably happens, deduct a point.

I gues its true because the delivery isnt very controlled but its not the only technique like that, kicks to the knee, foot stomps and even some submissions like a heel hook can be argued that have no tapping point, anybody who fights a heel hook that is properly done is going to get an injury, people have learned to recognize that its a dangeorus position and tap as soon as they feel the torque being applied to their knees, but if the other fighters just goes at it hard Palhares style they are going to injury before you have a chance to tap too.

I respect Jon Jones' strategies and moves inside the octagon, however, I think the kick to the knee should be made illegal. Any move that could severely injure a fighter and possible end his or her career shouldn't be allowed in the sport. Props to Jones for making that move popular though, as it shows there's always new things to learn in MMA.

Even though you said MMA, I want to point out that those kicks to the knees are a fairly old technique I believe. I have a survival book(bought it years ago on a road trip) that has a chapter dedicated to street fighting/defense and they show that move in there among other savage ones. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a military technique/krav maga.

almost every martial art teaches that kick, its very unpractical though, it requieres a lot of force and your oponent to have the leg in a perfect angle plus you hitting in the exact spot so your kick doesnt slide etc, also a strong kick to the outer thigh with your shin bone will floor way more people than the knee kick, its simply easier to land and more practical. If the knee kick were this military super strong kick you would have seen somebody already doing it and splitting legs in half all over the UFC by now.
Actually Ive seen a lot of people complain about the kick, mostly Rampage Jackson but so far it hasnt injured anybody and Jones has landed it many many times, leg locks have a way higher injury rate than this kick.
I think we should stop the talk about banning shit before we actually start seeing injuries as a result of said technique

LOLOLOLOLOL
NewbSaibot: 18 TIMES THE SPEED OF LIGHT. Because FUCK YOU, Daut
LOL about time he starts showing who he really is.
I think he isnt the star he is supposed to be because he was pretending to be somebody else, he thought he had to play the humble still learning young fighter and he was doing a poor job acting and it alienated his fan base.
Fuck it, Ali was absurdly arrogant and obnoxious and people loved him, or loved hating him, for self promoting theres nothing worse than being fake vanilla guy, be a good guy, be an asshat but be a true character, thats what we llike.
Id like to see Jones be arrogant, vicious and to disrespect his opponents, It works for Sonnen and he is faking it hard.
how can you hate the guy so much?it is ubelievable. And you even do not say it straight but whining instead. Like one other great fighter asked ' Are you crazy in the head '
The most STUPID people in the whole world are those who accept what idiots they are and show it and stick it under everybody else's noses so the can say 'At least this is who i really am'
If you are an asshole you do not have to be proud of this, but to work to get smarter instead. If your nature and behaviour makes you act or say stupid things ,then just learn how to shut your mouth and stay calm instead of explaining what a proud asshole you are!!!And the worse thing is that these kind of people feed form people's approval like yours saying 'At least he is not fake'. BE FAKE NOT AN ARROGANT ASSHOLE!!!
I dont hate Jones at all, I like him I think he is great but he is a shitty PPV pull, Ronda has way more viewers and she is 10 times the asshole Jones is but she has never pretended to be a good girl, so she never alienated her fan base, people watch her cuz they love her or cuz they want to see her lose.
I dont care if Jones is a good person or not, he is not my friend.. he is somebody I watch on TV and people want to see a big personality, its entertainment.

Ronda has more viewers than Jones? That's pretty crazy/cool.

Exactly. Judging him cause he s abusing an edge is illogical. Warning should just come earlier as he s extending his arms 24/7.

Im with you, Jones got in the pocket with Texeira and came out ahead, I think this will give him the confidence to trade with Gus and not be as hesitant as last time, so hopefully Jones can now feel an edge on the outside and inside, he should just stay away from jabbing range because he is going to get outboxed there every time.
