Well if you're going to quantify your bankroll in terms of salary, then you just lost 3/52 weeks pay. Thats actually pretty good bankroll management. Move down in jobs once you only have 20 weeks pay available.

Also, people are left to their own device often enough that the onus is on them to figure out and understand their limits, discover who they are and make informed decisions. Hard to get to that point as many people flounder about, because they always had someone hold their hand or lacked development in critical thinking.
