more $2/5 fun, fold 2-pair on dry board

Live 9-handed game, I'm on the button with , fish straddles $10 (450$ stack size), everyone folds to cutoff who calls (he has about $800, I cover), I raise to $40. (This isn't about whether it's good to raise to $40 here, that's probably pretty bad, but every once in a while I raise in position with total garbage if it's suited so my range can't be narrowed, and people think I'm sometimes a maniac and are willing to pay me off.)

Flop is ($120 pot)
They both check, I bet $100, they both call.

($420 pot)
they both check, I bet $250, fish calls, deep stack jams for an additional $400

Hero folds.

I figured my large bet-sizing was scary enough that the deepstack wasn't raising with any hand that didn't have me crushed. Thoughts?

you are beat by like only 55 or a questionable played A4/46/set of 2's (all which he shouldn't have that often)

If you want to fold here you i dont think you should open with the hand. If your image is already that of a maniac then this is getting paid off as you said. I see your point of how strong his shove looks into your bet but you have 390 invested already, with 400 more to call for a 1700+ pot. Its a must call

very easy call. even if ur beat most of the time ur getting 4:1. folding here is lighting money on fire

I don't really see it as inconsistent. You raise trash when your opponents are nits and you can steal, cbet, semibluff, and bluff scare cards with impunity. If your opponents play back at you a fair amount you shouldn't raise trash to begin with. So when you get checkraised allin on turn in a 3way pot the idea that your opponent isn't playing back at you is consistent with your original read.

That said you're getting 4 to 1 and its not too unreasonable your opponent just thinks you have some draw and his one pair is good. Its a clear call but not a fist pump.

Just for the record, most the hand I post are the ones that I took or thought about taking a really odd line in. So though I may be bad, I'm probably not quite as bad as all the hands I post would seem to imply.

I have been a bit of a calling station in the past so I'm trying to lay down more hands, and this was a fold I made that I thought was kind of absurd, but perhaps a correct adjustments to make against someone who would very rarely make a bluff in this spot. But again, i'm a bit of a station so I wanted some other points of view.
