10/20 Bellagio game 9 handed. Villain is BB 10k deep, hero covers

Villain is not a reg in these games, but seems like a somewhat straight forward, somewhat decent but not especially creative player. probably not quite used to playing 10k deep as he has won a few decent pots lately. he bought in for maybe 5k or so.

Hero is delt Kc3c in the CO, villain is BB.

folds to Hero who makes it 60 w/ Kc3c, sb call, villain call in BB

Flop 457r, They both check I bet 140 with bdfd + gutshot, overcard. Villain is only caller. turn Qc, he checks i bet 380, he makes it 1200.

I did not expect him to slowplay 86 on flop very often, I think most of his value range is Q7/Q5 type hands. I decide to go big and try to move him off 2pair. I make it 2900, he calls after tanking for about a minute. river 9d, he chks I put him allin for about potsize 6.5k or something.

How often do villains fold Q5 Q7 here? i think he will have 68 & sets some small % of time, but I could see him folding 44 or 55 occasionally. I did not expect many turn folds. I could just call turn with FD + gutshot maybe with some river bluffjams if he bets and I felt inclined.

Too bold? or just the right amount of spice?

The thing is if he's scared of calling with 2pair he might have been scared to raise it in the first place. Also he might have folded turn. Preflop and flop aren't even really autocalls.

I prefer call turn / re-evaluate river.

Since villain is up I wouldn't be surprised if he shows up with the nuts here more often than not.

But that might be another reason why we'd bluff him in the first place... live players love to protect their wins. So I'd say generally we'd have more fold equity vs the 2pair non-nut type hands.

just the right amount of spice

think its more likely to see him show up with some turned draw rather than q5/q7 though (something like 4x/5x/6x/7x/8xcc) doubt you run into 86 because when someones playing this deep when they usually dont, i think you'll see the 4b jam on turn pretty much always.

because of your description it seems he is the type of player that doesnt like to get into marginal situations, so I think q5 and q7 arent gonna be in his range much either preflop or on his turn raising range. I guess q7 could be sometimes but given that it should be suited and if 7 isnt c theres even more combos of a single set than that particular hand and when we think he can have 86o sometimes it gets ugly.

So that leaves us w q7, sets and straights, not a pretty range for you so Id just call turn and hope to improve.

That said i'm not used to playing this deep so I'd prob play it like im 250bb deep which is the stnd for me.

I like it, agree with PU about him just ripping turn with 86 and sets a high percentage and probably turned some sort of draw himself and was trying to hit it. Certainly could see a hero fold of bottom set as well on the river.

kimchi aint shit in comparison level of spiciness imo.

Our blockers are working against us, blocking none of his value combos but a bunch of his semi bluffing combos -> easy turn flat to realize equity. Kind of catastrophic here when you get shoved on and don't realize your 20~25% equity

Leads me to believe he doesn't have Q5o/Q7o in his range pre and even Q5s/Q7s being maybe called/maybe not. Perhaps he was feeling a bit spicy himself being up 5k and decided to call them but I don't think so.

Agree some turned equity is more likely than Q5/Q7 but holding K3cc here we block a bunch of those combos making value hands more likely.

interesting all the live players like it and all the internet players dont

I mean... absolutely if you think he folds Q7, 44, 55 here. You almost never see 86 since most people rip it over the turn raise. Totally dependent on the villan imo. If you've been running really good and showing down a lot of nut hands then I think this is probably a good spot to get super sick

It's fine even if you get called. No one at that table will ever believe you in the future when you do actually have it lol.

Ty for the input. My conclusion about this spot is that its probably a good play, and probably slightly better than calling and playing rivers with my read. like just looking at this guy I was almost sure that he had no bluffs in his range (i mean i could be very wrong but i mean i looked at him for at least a minute) and I always feel kind of insane going for this when I am pretty confident hes value c/ring the turn and almost never initially folding to the small 3bet.

In the actual hand I considered this line for a fairly long time (about a 1-1.5minutes, which is very long for me on a turn decision) and decided against it. In the game I had lost a few medium pots to this player where he did not see my (very strong, but 2nd best) hands, so I did not think I would get the full credibility that I normally would in this scenario and therefore decided against it. If I had been winning and not seemed possibly a bit on edge I definitely would have made this play.. I was kind of annoyed that I couldn't (didn't) make this play since random interesting scenarios like this don't really appear that often.

In the actual hand I decided to only call. The river was an offsuit K and he bet about 16xx-17xx. I didn't really think too long and folded pretty confident that I was beat its possible that I got owned since I've never seen the guy since and really don't know for certain how good/how capable of a player he is. Anyway just wanted to spice up this forum a little. If I play some other interesting hands maybe ill post a few up~

sick response to your own question as its exactly what i was thinking. Don't think a guy like this has 2p that often mostly just sets, and vs ur image at the time, he is either almost always calling or almost always folding. Just make a read on how he perceives you and go from there on whether or not calling or raising is more profitable.

him check raising the turn should be considered a leak and exploitative, unless he check calls flop with the nuts to balance his range but who does that? would have been nice to see you take advantage of that.

Just do whats right

I'd like it more with 66 or if flop had been a lil bit less dry

I still don't hate it though, pretty tough spot for him unless he has 68

Im not sure what to do tomorrow when I see her, should I shake her hand?? -Floofy
