Sweet blog. It does need a few pics though, just so the readers can have a better idea of what you're talking about.

you give any thought to the idea that the waitress chick was hustling you.

i feel like the devil for even entertaining the idea but it seems like a very bizarre thing to get fired for in a service job.

this was my thoughts as well, but let's hope it's not like that (seems kind of too complex of a scheme?)

Yea I did, but it would seems like a really advanced hustle. I always consider that stuff .

1. I did not in fact see her crying until my gf said it. She could've done it in much better angles if she really wanted me to see it.

2. I was at the party just by chance. While she could've guessed it there is no way she could've known it.

3. I usually have a decent bull-shit-o-meter.

4. Only way she could've pulled it off is if she did it to a lot of people and just assumed she'd run into one or two. Or possibly if she just played it by ear, but I'm fairly sure she wouldn't do it that good unless it was something she'd done a lot of times.

A few more small things kind of points in the direction of it being legit, but yea, mostly I decided that it was unlikely enough that she was bluffing. I wouldn't be super surprised if it was a scam but if it was I'd have to say that it was fairly complicated.

re: talking to much being a weird reason. Occam's razor dictates that she probably got fired for a bunch of things or something like that and decided to mention that since that's the dumbest of them just like pokerplayers often leave out parts of hands when they tell bad beat stories. Also she was probably the chattiest waitress I've ever seen, lol. And she might've said, one or two slightly inappropriate things about stuff that people who works in a restaurant probably shouldn't say about food.

I Dusty, I havent been here in Lp for a while now but since I read your whole post I have to come and defend my country heh. You only came to the unibet open in Tróia i guess? Did you visit the capital Lisbon or just stayed in Tróia? Thats kinda of far away from where something actually happens its like 50+km away. Tróia has nothing to visit, almost no life. I think you are very far away to draw a fair conclusion over Portugal I live in the capital and I can offer to show you around / give suggestions if you want and I'm pretty sure u'll change your mind. cheers. pm me.

Yea, just saw Troia and some taxi rides. A few friends was around a bit more and they got the impression that everything was closing. Guess I save a little bit of Setubul too, but not too much.

Did not try to sound negative about it all even though I probably did. I liked it a lot more then Spain and it was on pair with a lot of cities I've liked. And as I think I said, the people were mostly great and I had some fun. It's not your fault that the economy seems (is?) fucked.

Back in Sweden now but I'll take you up on that if I ever go back.

No problem bro Since I'm portuguese and know very well the country I just knew you were in a bad city ( Setúbal or Tróia ) to appreciate what the country has to offer, it pretty much has nothing. And as I said before it wouldn't be fair to draw a slightly negative image of an entire country over one bad city, or else most of us would be fckd up.
Just to support my statment a site like TripAdvidor http://www.tripadvisor.com/TravelersChoice-Destinations-cTop-g4 scores the capital Lisbon in a humble 16th place in the top 25 cities to visit in Europe.

About comparing it with Spain I think you have to add the city/region where you've been, because If you liked Setúbal or Tróia better than Spain I think you have go back to Spain again, but ill let some spanish Lp'er to defend his country heh. I've been in some spanish cities that are very very nice and hard to compare to Lisbon. In the tripadvisor site you can find 2 Spanish's cities in the top 12 which are Barcelona and Madrid.

And about politics and economy, well unfortunately Portugal has entered in down spiral on which we cannot see an end for it.

I'll end the post with a obvious question. Which are the top 3 cities/countries you've been in europe? and/or in the world

If you ever comeback ( and you should! ) pick summer time July- to mid Sept you'll not regret it 4 sure.

Hey k4ir0s, I haven't been there yet. Portugal has 2 Islands, Azores and Madeira.
Both have good feedback from tourists they have very nice landscapes and natural beauty , but are small Islands overall. Probably small nightlife too. Food should be great.
If your going with your gf should be nice and relaxing, if your hoping to party hard with friends or so, you probably wont be that lucky.

But then again I haven't been there, thats just what I've heard about the Islands.

@Those which are from Portugal,

Im going to Portugal on monday and need some advice. We will start in Lisboa for about 4 days, then going south to Albufeira for about 2-3 days.

What to do/not do?
Where to go?
Things to see?
Where to grind?

Thx in advance =)

ivanildo   Portugal. Jun 17 2013 08:32. Posts 87
