Hey everyone.
Need some advice... from pros.
I have about 8k in my pokerstars account. I stopped playing poker all together 2 years ago when University started for me and i reached like 20k but then lost it down to around 8k... or something happened idk. anyway now I have 8k in stars. I dont really want to play poker cause 1) time commitment is a lot. 2) i dont want to pay taxes on it and deal with all the legal issues in canada (is there legal issues in canada??) 3) i want to start making money in a career-society-friendly sort of way to build my reputation as a young adult (im 22...)
Tips? Insight?
Edit: What I am thinking: Recently I invested 1,500 with a bank and that is looking good... I was thinking of taking the money and putting on paypal and shopping with it.. or taking it out and investing more of it...... and only put a bit back IFFF i wanted to play poker again (but dont really want to put so much time into poker again!)

So you're asking us what you should do with 8k....
Withdraw all of it, get a bunch of 5 dollar bills - go to the top of a nearby building and MAKE IT RAIN

Without more info I would use that money (and time/focus/energy) towards some collection of car, apartment, wardrobe, apartment furnishing, going out + fun + dating + socializing, life experience and education. $8K is a pretty good bonus amount to get ahead of the curve in those areas at 22.
Unless you KNOW know what you are doing messing around with banks and stocks and etc. is not investing. It's at best gambling with out an edge. At worst, chunking off x% per a y amount of time crossing your fingers that you lucked someone that knows what they are doing and/or running good. If you haven't played poker in 2 years and don't want to that sounds like an even worse proposition.
Basically, use the money to invest in yourself wherever you can get the best return on life utility. |
