Looking to buy a new phone, but man its so stressful. So many options and choices. I'm reminded of a TED video about the paradox of choice and how buyer's remorse is magnified.
Considering it's a 2 year commitment, I'm actually willing to fork out more than the 300 price tag of the Nexus but actually think it might be the best phone/experience. I wouldn't have minded a higher end Nexus with LTE etc.
Note2 seems like it has everything so appears to be a safe purchase. But it is quite big and I'm not quite sure how I'd use it.
Thoughts? |

You're buying a phone at a weird time, as the Galaxy S4 might come out this summer.
Out of the two phones you listed, I'd get the Note 2.
If you're out of the house a lot, I'd also get an iCarrier battery pack, from "New Trent." It will allow you to fully charge your Note 2 a total of 5 times before needing to recharge the pack. You can skip this item if you're just a casual user. |

Have you visited the stores and actually tried one on for size? The note is lol-big if you ask me. It just doesnt feel like a phone so much as it feels like a mini-tablet. I'm all for big screens and all, but I think samsung got a bit carried away with this one. I also think the inclusion of a stylus is a misstep. Stylus's were tried in the early 2000's and they failed, hence why the iPad came out and was so successful. People neither need or want a stylus. Nobody is going to circle random bullshit on screen any more then you open up MS Paint and start circling screenshots of webpages and excel spreadsheets. Notice how every commercial just uses some nonsensical demonstration of the stylus? Thats because even the dev's cant think of anything useful to do with it. It's just added clutter and steals precious ideas from other ways to control the device.
IMO a phone should require one hand to operate. The note basically requires 2 hands at all times. Pretty sure it is physically impossible to reach from one end of the screen to the other with your thumb while holding it in the palm of your hand, no matter how you adjust it. Doing so would cause you to drop the phone. I was using the Droid DNA not too long ago, and even that phone would require some posturing to use 100% of the screen. Basically I'd have to sorta juggle the phone in my hand a little bit if I wanted to reach the top/bottom of the screen depending on where I was at. But I liked the extra real-estate so I didnt mind it. The note2? Nah brah, that aint me.
I dont really see how the note2 and the n4 are a comparison though. The n4 is a straight up traditional android smart phone. It's smaller to the point that it feels like every other smart phone. The note2 is supposed to be a mini-tablet meant for users who probably do more tablet shit, whatever that is, then using their phone. When it comes down to it, if I'm going to write my autobiography or research quantum mechanics then I'm going to use a fucking PC. Anything that requires more than 5 minutes of time I will probably want the luxury of a 24" monitor and keyboard+mouse. When I'm taking a shit and want to play pong, or waiting to get my haircut and want to see whats new on LP.net, then I'm probably fine using my phone. Trying to meld the both together is just a fad IMO. |

Friend of mine has the Note2, thing's insanely big. Would not recommend unless you have giant paws. |

you never said what your use case is.
Note 2
if you literally never leave the house and will use it for reading web/video then Note 2
if you do anything else, then nexus 4
Nexus 4
Better ROI from nexus 4 because smartphone depreciation is huge
Screen size is still very good for reading web/video
You will have constant android updates, not finicky roms
If you go with none nexus, then maybe waiting a couple months for S4 might be better or HTC ONE |

Have the nexus 4, out of the 2 I would prefer the note 2, but thats only if you don't include price, and the nexus 4 is a great phone.
Personally in your position I would buy a nexus 4 from google play store and get a pay monthly phone subscription. You'll end up saving alot, and not be tied in to a 2 year contract, so at any point you could switch your phone to a new one if something that you really like comes out.
That said the Galaxy S4 is being revealed in 3 days time, and will be ready to buy in april, I would just get that.
(or wait until the google i/o conference in may, and get the motorola x phone, carrying the latest version of android, 5.0 Key Lime Pie, but thats speculative at the moment)

If you're traveling a lot note 2 and the giant lg ones are perfect. Battery and big screen size is just worth it. And besides bigger is just manlier lol.
Btw those smaller fones are just shit for browsing and watching media. Also get a bigger memory if you go with the big ass phones so u can torrent stuff and watch it directly from there |

Don't buy anything just two days before a major announcement. Wait till Thursday then make a decision. As long as you don't buy iPhone5 you are good. |

Samsung Galaxy S4 comes out at the end of April, or sometime in May, depending on where you live. |

Drop your plan and buy both with the savings. I use verizon's network via Page Plus Cellular and pay $12 /month and it's more than enough for me as I make all my calls/texts through wifi via Google Voice. Look into it it's the best money-saving thing I did all last year. |
