It always hurts to lose a big pot. The only thing that eases the pain is finding out where I went wrong, or confirming that I played correctly and just hit some bad cards.

I didn't really have much of a read here, maybe about 50 hands. However he didn't seem like the sort of maniac that would call a raise with 96s. When the bet came on the river I had him either on a lower flush or maybe trying to bluff me out with a set or two pair hoping I didn't have the flush(this is micro-limit after all). Maybe the slimmest chance of 56s.

The only change I would make is to bet bigger on the river. Given the table dynamic I felt comfortable playing A8s from the SB, the rest of the table was fairly passive and I knew I would likely see a free turn or be able to get out clean if I needed to.

id raise 2 cents more preflop, and bet 0.07 on flop you. Theres 16 cards you like to see that add alot to your equity on turn so he has to fold a tiny amount of the time to make it a profitable flop bet. As played well done, you have to shove here and he has to call you only over half the time with worse hand to make it a good shove, which is a given, dont worry when he has you beat here and there.

If you dont have a read you shouldnt be raising from the SB with A8s. Regardless as played go ahead and cbet the flop for several reasons:

1) Just take it down now if he completely missed
2) You could hit a straight
3) Backdoor flush potential for a big pot

When you hit the turn I'd still bet more than half pot. On the river you're probably going to get it in no matter what since he's obviously going to raise any bet, and you have no choice but to put him on worse flushes or plain trips.

bye now

NewbSaibot is correct. A8 is not a good hand to raise from sb vs limper. You put yourself in a bad position with no idea of where you are on the flop. Was your hand in front or way behind? It was micro stakes, paired board, no statistics on your opponent so in this case you should have called his re-raise on river with your top flush.

You got a big hand on river (top flush on a paired board) but on micro's you can only invest smth like 50bbs in a hand like this (but no more). Mainly thats because you had only smth like 5th possible best hand. Secondly because your re-raise all in will force your opponent to call you with a tighter hand.

Just used Equilator (odds calculator). Let's see:

You had Ac8c ; board was 9h5c6h6cKc

Your opponent possible hand he call you with on the river (after you shoved all in) : 55, 66, 99, 69, 56, QcJc, QcTc, Qc9c, Qc8c, Qc7c, Qc4c, Qc3c, Qc2c, JcTc, Jc9c, Jc8c, Jc7c, Jc4c, Jc3c, Jc2c, Tc9c, Tc8c

Result : you had 42.5% equity which is obviously not good enough.

you're way off, villain has boat combos very little of the time here since we should expect them to bet their sets/two pairs on the flop a ton of the time. And, we also expect them to raise turn a lot with boats as well. This is an ez get it in on the river.

I agree we'd expect opponent to bet flop with his sets most of times...

But on nl2 especially on Zoom poker on pokerstars it's not that simple. He will lay down most of his combos facing all in on river and even trips like 6x hands if he is a regular player... If he is a fish he will call many hands but still i am not sure we'll have good equity. Without stats we have to put him on a good hand expecting him to call our raise all-in on a river fairly tight..

It's just my opinion and there is no need to argue.
