game is 1-1-2 kill so 1-2 blinds with 1 on the button.

In the hand short stacked kid makes it ten to go with a forty stack in ep. Villain calls in the hijack. I make it forty to go with AJo to get the shorty in and isolate the donk (villain). Both call.

Villain is the biggest spot on the table. Playing every hand. Bluffing non stop. Tilting or just really doesn't give a shit not sure. Down at least a rack and reloading 1-200 at a time. A little earlier in the session he spazz check jammed air vs my brothers small river bet and got snapped off by top pair. I made some money vs him valubetting bottom pair and some other hand where he tried to donk into me twice on flop and turn and I raised him twice with him folding to the turn raise. Villain and I are about 100bb effective I think, I cover him.

So 120ish in the pot on the flop and the board is q23 something dry. Villain checks I check. Not really trying to push him off his equity on the flop since he will just go apeshit a
Bunch of the time and I don't want to get it in with a high again vs this guy. Turn checks through quickly. River is a brick 9 and he leads 40 quickly.

I thought the pot was smaller than it was at the time and folded fairly quickly. The short stack has at least ace high so the guy can't logically win anything bluffing me since he has to show down no matter what. He bluffs me off with air he still loses the pot.

I fold and shorty shows ace ten and takes down the pot. My AJ was obviously good. Villain snap folds and says he just wanted the pot to go to the other guy since he has been winning off that guy. Lol.

Not thrilled about makIng ace high calls in dry side pots where my opponent logically can't win but meh this is probably a snap vs this guy what u think

And maybe it's a live thing but I've had people bluff me out of dry sidepots several times now for no real reason on the river. Spots where if I call they lose money and if I fold they lose money; the play cannot benefit them. Maybe people just like to try to own me.

this was just a weird spot cause without the ai shorty it's an obvious snap all. And even with the shorty in there and the separate main pot im still way ahead of villains possible holdings and getting great odds, I just shouldn't be ahead of his betting range

I think you have to call, it's already profitable if it's 50/50 that you have a better hand than the villain bluffing, cause well, you win 40$. And you can't really expect him to know anything about sidepots whatsoever. What's the turn btw?

I mean basically right after the hand I realized I was getting 4:1 and only needed to win 20% of the time so vs this guy it's got to be a call. Although technically I shouldn't be ahead of any hand he bets but whatever your right hes not thinking about that

Lol I'm the one who made it forty to go pre but then a few seconds later in the hand I think I'm facing a 40$ PSB. This purple chronic has me too ripped for my own good

I think part of it also is being not quite bankrolled for the limit so while I would snap call and bluff in a bunch of close spots online I have so many fish in this game I look for clear spots and pass up on some money I otherwise could be making

think its fine fold, most of the time any random hand will have you beat

Mariuslol   Norway. Dec 16 2012 16:08. Posts 4742

i also think its so close, that it doesnt matter

More cool to think what would have happened if a J hit, how much would you have bet, and how much would you fire on a brick turn xD Or would you bet small, induce from the guy u didnt like, then snap it off with 2nd pair

Fold seems completely fine to me. The guy can literally have like any hand in existence and your basically hero calling with Ace high against a guy who's range is any 2 cards. Pretty sure if you call here he's gonna show up with some garbage pair super often and you'll hate your life.

i probably just call the raise preflop with AJ, but all the new kids say its bad not to 3-bet here

i think 3 betting pre sucks without a specific plan since if we hit an A or J hi board we will get full value from our hand anyway.

don't try to iso vs someone super bad unless it's for a shove then we can just get the monies in good anyway but this spot shoving would be horrid so call is best.

if we were in position here i'd be more inclined to 3 ball this since we can just rape the fish in the hand so often it doesn't really matter...but even then i think flatting is suprior...no reason to go apeshit with a hand that doesn't do well in all in preflop situations...nothing wrong with taking a flop with a strong hand vs a fish and then outplaying them postflop. that's where most of the edges in NLHE are anyways.

i often will flat this hand and others like it but in this particular spot i did have position on the huge fish and if i dont 3 then it goes 5+ ways to the flop and i cant really insta stack on j / a flops like i do in this situation.

flat isn't bad here though you are right it may even be better but i had some reasons for the 3b

I will only make this call if i can read the villains soul, knowing he's pushing me off the pot out of spite. 9/10 times imo this bet will be for value.

Another good question...
