Thanks guys for all the comments on my hands, It's been a while since I played and I feel uncomfortable in many basic spots, but I'd also like to learn the basics the correct way this time as I was at my peak a stable 4bb/100 NL50 winner which isn't exactly stellar, and most of you LPers will be a lot better than me
Here are some basic 3bet/squeeze spots I played today, not sure if correctly.
Hand1:
I guess the size was too small pre? I wanted the fish to come along.
Do you like postflop? I'd ship J and higher overs and a club ott

1: At least 1.5 pre, and really should go bigger than that and stack off all flops in different ways depending.
2: Seems ok.
3: Flat the flop donk, you have odds to hit, might be ahead, and he never ever folds any pair so no point to raising at all.
4: Same as 3. |

hand 1: I don't want the fish in the hand with AK and play oop vs 2 people. We don't have a big hand sample size, but it seems that the reg is really 3bet happy 15%. I would just shove preflop.
hand 2: I prefer to make it 14bb preflop. I see other regs squeeze a little less sometimes. I look at his stats (call 3bet/4bet, wtsd) to get an idea of what kind of player he is. I usually at least 2 barrel this board, and vs most regs just go bet/bet/shove.
hand 3: i would raise more on flop like 1.20$ and shutdown if called. |

H1: This is opponent specific. How often is he calling 4bets? You can 4bet OOP a little bigger. How much does he float? The more foldy he is and the more he's floating with overs/draws, the more I like a turn shove. If he's stationy, and the more likely he has a pair here, the more I like a c/f.
H2: Same as 1, what's his range and what parts of it will he fold to a shove? What's his tendencies? How does he view you?
H3: He's either inducing or he has a weak hand and blockbet/folding. In my experience, it's usually the latter. I'd at least call, a player this bad can show up with AJ or some crappy straight draw with no pair. You might hit river. You can bluff some cards as well if he checks(overcards).
H4: This flop is so dry and your opponent is 100vpip over 4 hands, I'm probably just calling/evaluating. As played, you could still raise or shove the turn to try and fold out hands like this, but I just don't know if a player like this could find a fold. Ditto for the river. |

H1 and H2
With AK or AQ, you are gonna miss 2/3 of the flops so you shouldn't be terribly excited about getting called.
On both flops I think cbet flop, c/f turn is super bad because they are super dry. On those boards, pending some particular read, you have to either bet flop/bet turn/eval river or just c/f as a general rule. Betting and c/f is burning money, no one calls 3bets to fold on a 559 or 394 board.
H3 and H4 same as above. |

Not read comments (that ruins it for me, since then I always pretend I'd do what TT says).
I don't like the size here with AK. There's almost 90cent in the pot, and we raise 90cent, I think it's better to make it larger, and make the mistake of the fish larger. They are fit or fold anyway, get more money in when we're most likely Ahead. Also a bit shitty to play when we miss, since they play Bingo.
I'd make it bigger. And then a little bigger C bet, and on any Scarecards or flush card shove. But that's since being aggro makes you happy.
If reads on the fish, I might just try check it down when miss.
Hand 2: Like the sizing here xD I call the river bet here, but then again I call way too much lol. Might be missed broadways or a missed draw or some shit like that. If you have stats, look at river bet %, if it's over a value range ( 15%) maybe 25% or something, I call and feel confident he bluffs a lot xD
Hand 3: Fish usually calls the raise if they don't minbet, and then it's more of a guessing game. I'd either make it larger, the raise, then I'd scare the fuck out of him when a high card comes on the turn. But it's a fish.
I prefer taking check down lines when I miss, and bet when I hit. So the first thing I wrote is just if u want to feel awesome. If not, call and re-evaluate on turn, since I think you can use ur 24% or whatever to spike, and then get a bet from shittier hands that he might do that with. They do that with mediocre hands, mediocre draws. And fish don't like to bet fold (unless they minbet).
Looks like he got a shitty T or a mid pair, or a shitty draw. |

Hand 4: Shitty spot, just fold pre. He's got a pair or he's got ur A or T dominated most of the time. Just put in the 14% range he raises with. It's probably even tighter than that if you look at his open from MP. And when he donks out like that, you're vs a A with better kicker or a pair. Asking for trouble
My 2 cents
(ok now we just wait for TT and see) |
