So the bottom-line is how do you explain a fucked up decision every other card? Are the judges just that fucking retarded or is there some fixing going on? LOL

its a combination of a lot of things
-bad view of the cage
-no monitors/stats available to them
-not allowed or discouraged to give 10-10 scores for rounds that are too close to call
-judges dont know what they are doing
-judges have some small personal bias for a certain fighter that makes them choose him
i think all of these reasons are much more likely than the fights actually being fixed or rigged. i dont think a judge liking a certain fighter and subconciously wanting to choose hi in a close round is the same as a fight being rigged.
there have only been a few fights I suspected were fixed and none were in the UFC. a couple mma ones were smaller promotions and of course boxing fights like pacquiao vs bradley.

I wouldn't be surprised if some judges have been taken out to dinners, trips, etc., not to intentionally buy a fight, but perhaps persuade them in their decision making when they see a certain person of power don't want to see things go a certain way. "Well, I know that we don't want to see a draw, or, I rather see this guy fight this guy next since I know his next opponent for sure, or, Having this guy continuing his point fighting is not good for business, etc."
I'm not saying Dana buys off judges to fix fights, but Japanese MMA and K-1 has a history of being dirty at certain points in the past. I doubt every MMA organization in USA is 100% honest.
All of the above is probably bullshit, but you never know.

i can pretty much guarantee some pride fights were rigged. they'd approach a fighter and offer him money to dive. Usually they didn't tell the other fighter one was diving, but i know of one situation where the guy knew he was supposed to win the fight.

I thought Frankie won this fight and got handled pretty easily the last time they fought. Good for him for improving but you gotta take it from the champion. Boring fight, heard the rest of the card sucked so didn't watch besides Cowboy and Guillard. Hats off to those two. Those are fighters.

what needs to happen so the judgint system is changed, give them some monitors and let them score 10-10 and 10-8 more freely ffs

ive thought about this a good amount. stratifying the scoring system further in theory should make judging the fight on a round by round basis give a score closer to the overall picture of who won the fight on the whole. however these retard judges cant get the score right with a very simple system, so how can making the system even harder for them work?
i think right now all that we can do is give them monitors/stats and educate better. even though its better theoretically, making the scoring more complex will only lead to problems at the moment.

yup pride had tons of fight fixing. and smaller promotions do as well. but the UFC is a different story. I'd be an idiot to say theres never been a fight fixed in the UFC, just based on the fact that there have been ~2500-3000 fights its almost a certainty, but I cant recall ever suspecting a fight was fixed. I always just assume it was bad judging or bad reffing, not that it had motivation behind it.
can you guys think any examples of UFC fights that seem rigged for one fighter?

random thoughts that really strikes me: diaz bros complain about judging criteria and how a ton of fighters will lay and pray instead of "bringing it". But on the other hand they are butt buddies with jake shields who is the king of lay n pray. Everytime i see his name on a card it just ruins it for me cuz i know that fight is gonna suck.

I think those are just bad decisions, i dont see how any of these was rigged by the UFC or some other unknown forces, which was what Daut was asking. To be honest i cant really recall seeing a UFC fight that i though was rigged for a specific fighter. There have been plenty of bad decisions by the judges though.

I had it 3-2 Edgar. Coulda seen 4-1 Edgar easier than 3-2 Henderson.
People looking into 'bad judging'...especially the talk about if the champion gets close rounds or not...are just looking too much into it. 'Bad' judging is always going to happen in a subjective field for a 5 round fight that has several close rounds. Sometimes, a person see's 3 straight rounds won by fighter A...but if all 3 rounds were close, a lot of people don't really realize how easy it is for another person to have scored those close rounds all to the other guy creating such a perceived huge disparity when there really wasn't. I guess maybe I'm more used to it since I watched a lot of boxing before and they mess up over there in fairly often crazier differences over a you'd think easier to get right 12 round sample.

Shields doesn't really lay and pray much unless he's really tired. He generally tries to improve position go for submissions. He's not just a wrestler, he's also one of the better BJJ practitioners in MMA.
