nice benson won. edgar vs diaz would look too weird

better for mma, frankie would've just created a rage match vs diaz like a condit vs nick diaz, or maynard vs guida.

The 2 judges who scored it for Benson were thinking the same thing I was. In a title fight where there's rounds that leave me confused, I know those are usually going to the champion.

Benson will have to come up with a new game plan before he fights Nate Diaz, that Neanderthal isn't afraid to push forward and take shots to the head.

I don't think 2,4,5 were confusing, and were pretty clear wins for frankie. Just about every play by play site i've checked also scored it for frankie.

Benson was +600 live with a few minutes to go. Given how the fight ended I don't think benson did even close to enough to win that fight but I so am glad he got the decision LOL

dont really feel like watching it again and breaking it down just so i can whine that i had it 49-46 edgar

I thought 3 and 4 went to Bendo by a hair. Poor Frankie, but his gameplan obv relies on winning decisions too much.

probably what the judges thought of the fans if they gave it to benson lol
poor edgar and wrestlers - people just dont care that much about them even if they try to strike well

^i think that has more to do with frankie being half the opponents size in general so he has to use strategy only to win (god damn did you see hendo's leg in comparison to frankie's?it's friggin huge)

he really needs to go down one weight class, think he would do well vs aldo and there his punches would get 'respect'

so what happened the first bendo vs edgar fight where a lot of people had it 48-47 edgar? he was champ, bendo got all those close rounds

I gave Frankie 2nd round and 5th. I thought benson won the 1st due to leg kicks. I got pissed and worried when benson stopped throwing leg kicks and frankie was scoring a ton of mini pts similar to what condit did to diaz.

Anyhow i dont think ive seen a closer fight other than shogun vs hendo and it def musta sucked to be the judges but most of all edgar. Im glad frankie 0-2 and no more rematches for a while, altho i do feel for him because this 2nd bout was close as fuck.

The first fight: The fight was in Asia, Benson is half Korean, his mother and him were doing a ton of press before the fight just because of him being half Korean, followed by a trip to Korea after the win.

The second fight: Nobody in the UFC wants to see Frankie point fight his way to a title win, just so he can lose it in his next fight to Nate Diaz. Aside from his TKO of Maynard, the last guy Frankie finished was Matt Veach, in December 2009.

Benson vs. Nate is a more sell-able fight, which they could have in Los Angeles, where the Korean and beaner population is pretty big.

In the end, I wouldn't have been surprised if Frankie would have won the split decision, but I'm not surprised he didn't win it.

Edit: Benson was fighting like how his attitude was in an interview prior to this event, where he said something along the lines of "I'm the champ, you're coming to take my title away", then he went on to say how the other guy has to do more than him to win the fight. I thought of this because he seemed more relaxed and was countering a lot instead of pressing the fight to Frankie, which Benson thinks he doesn't need to do since he's the champ. Maybe this is why he lost his belt vs. Pettis? The super kick was icing on the cake.

ben henderson has gone to 6 straight decisions. he hasnt finished a fight in 2.5 years.

not only do i think its a ridiculous thing to give any close fight to the current champion, but i dont think its really true.

i realize edgar has been involved in a bunch of these close fights. but really most of these fights werent close. there are so many problems with mma judging and it looks like the system will never allow them to be fixed.
