My general play when I get called raising preflop with a hand like AK, AQ, and the bored is 3 undercards is to cbet 2/3's of the pot, regardless of position.

I try to modify that action based on the villians fold to cbet percentage, if it's high ill only cbet about 1/2 the pot because the villian is going to fold to the cbet anyway regardless of size. Is that good reasoning?

Also I know I should consider board texture when deciding to cbet, but how does position affect it?

Lower stakes you shouldn't worry TOO much about that kind of stat.

The reason c-betting is good with AK is because you can clean up a lot of dead equity by getting him to fold hands like QJ J10 98 etc. on 265/ 754/ J62 boards etc.

It also has decent equity against hands that actually have made a pair.

And you can get value against draws.

And you can make half-pot c-bets as bluffs and more for value as many players don't notice that kind of thing, regardless of fold to c-bet stat.

You should consider three things when you bet,

Can I bet for value?
Can I bet as a bluff?
Can I bet to clean dead equity?

You should consider these things when you c-bet

How hard does this hit my villains range?
How hard does it hit my perceived range?

you can check fold/check behind those hands when board is v bad.

position affects your decision as people are more likely to call flop IP with a much wider range. eg: on J62r you might get called by hands like 89s which can improve to FD/SD on turn. depending on opponent people tend to have much narrower ranges OOP. eg: if you raise MP TAG regs might only call in the SB with AJ+ and pocket pairs. Knowing a general idea about positional ranges gives you the opportunity to apply pressure.

As tensai says you should be thinking more of board texture and ranges than stats

Thanks for the clear posts guys ^_^, "How hard does it hit my perceived range?" I wasn't doing this at all.
