I think the beauty of the olympics is that you dont have to like all the events, but there is such an array of them that there is something for everyone. Hell, and atleast you have watched the horse events and decided you dont like them, im the same but I can appreciate the skill levels required
anyone complaining about the olympics being boring just doesn't have any taste for many sports. There are tons of interesting sports for the majority of the world to watch. The Volleyball/beach is nice, seeing some of the more obscure events are nice. The sprinting ones are over fast but there is lots of build up, trying to witness new world records. Then there are sports that require less physical evolution and more skill making for a nice roundness to the olympics.
Lastly, you get to experience other countries teams that you more than likely never will see anywhere else. So, overall the olympics has lots to offer

I'm watching some live swimming events through a link at YouTube, that's located at the top of the website.
Once you click the link, it takes you to another page where you click the big image, which takes you to another page and you click on your cable provider, then it takes 10 seconds or so for it to log you in.
There's 2 channels playing different Olympic stuff on my TV, but it's different from the games shown online.

Even if you don't like some of the sports, you have to admire the dedication and determination of these atheletes to be able to make it to the olympics. There is no "easy" sport in my opinion.

Women's beach volleyball is where it's at
We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.

You watching it in a dark room by yourself? Make sure you bring a beach towel and vasoline
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us and as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permision to do the same

Agreed the Olympics are pretty meh, most of the sports have their own more important competitions outside of the games and athletics are pretty boring unless theres the potential for a WR to be broken, then it gets kinda cool. But its always cool to catch some Olympic camel toe and the female beach volley.
I don't even like the Olympics that much, but this is really just inaccurate. A huge majority of the Olympic sports do not have anything larger than the Olympics. A small minority, formed by the largest sports in the world (which is probably why you feel this way), has bigger events outside of the Olympics.
I guess I shouldnt be shitting on fringe sports being a big BW nerd myself but its also to do with what I define as a sport, I dont really consider swimming, running etc to be sports in the sense tennis and football are so I bunch all those up with athletics.
2012 Olympics are a f%*# disgrace to fair sportsmanship.
Unfair judo decision, then Ukraine getting kicked off the podium (man gymnastics) AFTER the tournament, and now this:
WATCH FROM 2:07!!!!
This is f***ing pathethic. They let her strike her 4 times with 1s left on the clock, until she made the hit and won (she would lose at 5:5, so she HAD to make the hit).

id agree i wouldnt really consider swimming or running sports, but they are definitely feats of athletic ability which imo is what the spirit of the olympics is all about, even more so than football etc.

Can you explain it? For us who don't understand fencing rules.
not much to explain, you have a sword and you need to hit second person to score a point
the thing is, Korean woman only needed to make it a draw to win, and as she was leading 5:4, German made the hit and it was a draw at 5:5(meaning Kor still wins) with only 1 second left on the clock. What you can see on the video is that the judges let the German woman make 4 separate attack attempts in that 1s left of time, as she finally made the hit to win 6:5 and the timer reached 0.
*watch the video from 2:07.

^ The London Olympics have disrespected South Korea multiple times this year.
They made the mistake of listing South Korea as North Korea in one of the game lists, then they apologized, but then did it again in another game, which can be seen below.
It might not seem like a big deal to most of you, but in terms of South Korea and North Korea, it's a big deal, especially when the mistake is made more than one time in the same week of an event after it was supposed to have been rectified.
