25/89 people left, 12 paid. Best structure for a live tourney that I have seen.

I was playing like a mad man earlier but since I have been at this table I have been very TAGish.

Villain: New guy 20's that I am pretty sure I have played before and I remember as someone capable of making moves is 2 seats to my left. He has raised the only unopened hand to him so far from SB to BB.

He has 31.5k I have 35k
Blinds 600/1200 200 ante

I open from cutoff with Q9s for 2500 button folds SB calls BB folds.

T 7 8 rainbow

SB leads into the pot for 2500 I raise to 6000 he makes it 12000.

What is he representing? Fold? Ship it? Any comments?

Also what are people raising in live tourneys late? Online I always make it 2-2.5 BB opponent dependent.

dont raise if you dont have a plan

as played now just follow your heart

Browsing through your hand histories makes me wonder that you might not be aware these games are possibly play money. Have you ever tried to cash out? - Kapol

I had a plan and went with it, I was just curious what others would do in this spot and it seemed like a good hand to get the tournament forum discussing hands again.

How would you have played the hand?

^ r u really calling in these spots considering blinds? i would shove or fold. depending on feeling. if we call and turn bricks it sucks balls. and if we call and get another draw it also sucks cuz then we most likely have to go all the way whilst still not unlikely being dominated. if we know villain does this with mid pair-ish type of hand or something and is capable of check/folding pretty much any turn after this play i guess calling is fine. but if not, i would never just call.

the only question is to the first bet, raise or call, after raising you are gonna be shoving to this action always

His lead made me think mid pair something like A8 A7 or just some overs trying to block my C bet. I was trying to get input from others that was not results oriented.

not gonna say this is a hard and fast rule but i give leads (and their 3bets) a lot more credit live than online. live players can have sets/straights+twopairs here.
there are a couple reasons i wont really get into but basically what p999 said.
call vs most.

I wish I did. I have pretty good success in these without gambling there is no reason to push spots like these.

I am going to play again tonight. 3 FTs thus far with a sample size of about 15, results later if anyone cares.

Chipped up from 6k to 27k including setting a sick trap for a reg to bluff at and calling him down.

Then a few hours in this hand happens, I opened from the cutoff and BB ships it AKo vs JJ

A XX X J

From 27k to 1600 (1 BB).

1600 back to 7200, then I steal the blinds w/ A8o and get up to just under 10k.

All in with 5 BBs KJo against AQo, flop a K up to 16-17k

In the BB I wake up with KK against Button raise and SB ship w/ A8o. ~30k

In the SB I shove after fake looking (I didn't want to see 62o and not push it) to BB. A7o against AKo, I spike a 5 on river for the straight, up to 40k.

Button raise 89s (again too small of a raise) SB and BB calls.
Check, then BB ships 3 9 7 flop two spades.
I didn't even think about it and snap call he shows Qs9s. The turn brings a 6 and some hope then the river takes it away with a 3rd spade. When he shipped I didn't even look to see how much he had, I was very surprised when he had my covered by less than 1k.

I have really good discipline online most of the time and a lot of success. This is the 3rd time in a row I have pissed away a mountain live in these 100-$150 buyins. I am really embarrassed to be honest and am posting this as a reminder to keep an even head and tell myself what the hell are you doing before I call or reship these spots. I really make crazy sick lay downs then just spazz out late.
