Faber and Barao's free fight videos vs. various opponents + Show Spoiler +
- On April 24, due to a conflict with the UN Conference, the UFC Middleweight Championship bout between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, which was originally scheduled to main event UFC 147 was moved to UFC 148 to serve as the new main event. Plans were then being made for Jose Aldo, who at the time was scheduled to defend his title at this event against an undetermined opponent, to headline UFC 147. However it was reported on April 28, 2012, that Aldo would remain on this card and defend his title against Erik Koch.
- The bout between Michael Bisping and Tim Boetsch, originally scheduled for UFC 148, was moved to this event to help bolster this (the UFC 149) fight card. However, Bisping was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced by promotional newcomer Hector Lombard.
- Yoshihiro Akiyama was expected to face Thiago Alves at this event, but was forced to pull out of the fight due to injury and replaced by Siyar Bahadurzada. Then on June 1, Alves pulled out of the bout citing an injury. and was replaced by Chris Clements.
- Thiago Silva was expected to face Maurício Rua at the event. However, Silva was forced out of the bout with an injury and Rua was pulled from the event entirely, and will face Brandon Vera at UFC on Fox 4.
- On June 4, 2012 it was announced that the UFC signed former DREAM champion Bibiano Fernandes. He was expected to compete against Roland Delorme. However, on June 11, 2012 it was announced that Fernandes was removed from the event due to injury but was later announced that Ferandes had not signed with the UFC. Francisco Rivera has filled in to fight Delorme.
- On June 9, 2012 it was announced that UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo was removed from the event due to injury. No replacement has yet been named for his scheduled opponent, Erik Koch. As a result, the UFC Interim Bantamweight Championship fight between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao was re-scheduled as the main event of the fight.
- George Roop was scheduled to fight Antonio Carvalho, but on June 26th, Roop was forced out of the fight due to injury and replaced by Daniel Pineda.
- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira was expected to face Cheick Kongo at the event. However, Nogueira pulled out of the bout, citing that an arm injury sustained in his last bout had not healed enough to resume the proper training and was replaced by Shawn Jordan.
- On June 30th, Siyar Bahadurzada was forced out of his fight against Chris Clements due to an injury. Bahadurzada was replaced by Matthew Riddle.
- Claude Patrick was expected to face James Head at the event. However, Patrick was forced out of the bout with an injury and replaced by Brian Ebersole.

Faber > Barao (Faber doesn't lose #1 contender fights, only title fights.)
Lombard > Boetsch (Boetsch could play it smart and take it into round 3 since Lombard has shown a sub-par gas tank before, but I think Lombard's power + Olympic Judo will be enough to keep it standing and TKO Boetsch.)
Jordan > Kongo (Watch Kongo's chin go bye bye. This will probably be KO of the night.)
Ebersole > Head
Clements > Riddle
Ring > McGee
Rivera > Delorme
Jimmo > Perosh (UD in a boring fight)
Caraway > Gagnon
Pineda > Carvalho
Kuivanen > Clarke
I like Faber. But sportsbooks seem to have Barao as favorite.
You say Faber doesnt #1 contender fights. I do not know much about Barao, can you post what type of fighter he is? And why you think Faber would win vs him. Any positives on Barao vs Faber?
But what if he posseses GNP LNP wrestling and also excellent striking and bjj submissions?

^ If you know anything about Faber, you'll know he has good wrestling + boxing + speed + accuracy + guillotine choke + good chin (obv).
Knowing that, watch Barao's fight against Brad Pickett in the UFC, which you can see below:
I'm not saying the same Barao who fought Pickett will also show up to fight Faber, but, if he fights Faber like he did against Pickett, it will be an easy win for Faber.
Betting on Faber especially if he's the underdog is a good bet.

Cool. But you cannot base it all just on Barao's last fight. Can you give me more info on Barao on why he's the sportsbooks favor him? Ths sportsbooks surely see something you dont.

I'm not the end all be all of MMA picks/guesses, but I believe in Faber in this fight. I honestly don't see how he's the underdog, especially with how he's looked better in his last couple of fights. If Faber wasn't improving his game then I could understand, but he is improving.
Aside from Scott Jorgensen, whom I think is overrated, who has Barao beaten that was notable? He won via Decision against a serverely washed up Cole Escovedo, Decision win vs. Jorgensen, looked bad in his stand up vs. Pickett while Pickett was only throwing 1 punch at a time in hopes to land his signature "One Punch".
Faber could have beaten, and did beat some of the same guys that Barao beat in the WEC/UFC. The majority of Barao's wins are vs. random Brazilians that nobody has heard of.
Lastly, if you watch Barao's fights in the UFC, you will have seen that he hasn't looked as impressive as his record and hype that people are putting around him. Obviously he's good and is more dangerous than Cruz, but he hasn't shown me anything that makes me think that he can beat Faber.

well then he would be GSP or John Jones, maybe Frankie Edgar to some degree. the rest of em are crocops
btw he doesnt possess excellent striking, body type is thick and reach is kinda shit. kinda quick on his feet but yeah im not a huge fan of wrestlers lol
thing is in around 2006-2008 mat hughes types dominated bjj guys who were either not that strong and had mediocre standup, bj penns were very rare so strong wrestlers were the perfect counter, now where bjj superstars are very unpredictable and super athletic and strong, these ohio boy farmer guys have disappeared and rightfully so. unless faber had some sick revamp of his style i dont see him winning vs anyone other than guys who have zero shot the title, much like griffin vs ortiz vs franklin in LHW

Yeah. Honestly I want Faber to win. I want Cruz vs Faber 2 to happen.

i hope your joking about the faber doesint lose #contender fights. Well his opponent doesn't even lose fights and is close to a lock
Faber has been fighting the best or near the best for the last 6+ years. Barao has fought 1 top 10 fighter in his entire career in Jorgensen.
I think Barao is probably a slight favorite, but Faber is still very good. He's only lost to the best of the best. I wouldn't be surprised to see Faber win here. Barao is still untested against high level competition.
