Not impressed with new episode, I would say it was good but nothing special.

ill give it a pass. sometimes a season in a great show will start slow only to eventually pick up and finish strong

I think it was OK except for mike though, I think he was way more interesting in previous seasons.
Felt like the episode was super short like 20 mins or something, guess that happends when you get excited.

This episode was everything I expected it to be. Completely satisfactory for an opening episode.

While S4 was one of the best, I think S5 did admirably. As the title poster says, "all hail the king". Walt is becoming more and more like gus, realizing he is a king pin. The "because I say so" moment was perfect, and really compliments Mike's passivity perfectly, since he is nothing more than a servant to whomever is in charge. He was all badass dealing with everyone but Gus, but he knew his place when around him. Now he knows his place with Walt, which was perfect.

Keeping a human element to Walt is necessary. He must remain submissive and loving around his wife, otherwise he's just another Gus which is boring. I think S5 started off as perfect as can be given the history and characters up to this point. I mean, yeah we'd all like to see more carnage and stuff which made S4 so fucking awesome, but they have to keep the characters in line. Walt cant go off the deep end completely yet, and his partners have to adjust to him being in charge now. So far so good. ****

i had to crush out season 4 in 1 day to be able to watch season 5. first episode wasn't bad, but i thought gus was a straight badass, and its going to be hard to match that without him. does look like youll get to see some of his history when he lived in chile though, so thats a huge plus

and another thing. the first scene with the machine gun was just wtf. please dont start the copy paste. PLEASE
