It's on the chickish side, but it's an HBO shows and as an HBO connessieur (sp?) I think it is one of their better shows. Also check out the Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, Oz, Boardwalk Empire, and also can't forget about Flight of the Conchords. All are absolutely phenomenal shows.

Parks and recs, battlestar galactica, Sherlock, flight of the chonchords to name a few that haven't been mentioned as much.

The next few have been mentioned and rightfully so: breaking bad, wire, sopranos, boardwalk empire, mad men

Still enjoyble but could have been so much better: walking dead (s2 lolwut?)

I stopped watching after the island flew away or disappeared or something

the new HBO show Newsroom is damn good.
