Robbery...

Guida landed way more strikes than Maynard. Stupid referees and fans.

Thats what he gets for that shit performance.

I love guys who use tons of footwork. I'm a huge Cruz fan.

But when all you do is dance and not put in much offense, you deserve to lose on principle.

That was a disgrace, he literally ran 90% of that fight.

Do you punish someone who lands more strikes and runs a lot vs. someone who cant land any strikes and comes forward a lot?

Who cares about how much Guida ran, he landed the better shots and more shots than Maynard, while Maynard could not adapt to the situation, he was getting upset that he couldn't land anything.

It's not Guida's fault that Maynard cant do anything aside from throw bombs and a few fail take downs as his main arsenal.

i gave 1st/2nd to guida, 3/4/5 to maynard. as a bettor i thought it was shitty to try and win that lame ass way and was pissed off as fuck. as a fan it was boring as could be. but as someone who bet on condit vs diaz and was happy with that gameplan gotta tip my cap to greg jackson and guida. only way he could win the fight and they nearly did it

I was going to post the FightMetric stats, but, those aren't always accurate.

You could see for yourself how much both fighters were landing, as well as their faces afterward.
Yes, I'm aware certain people take damage worse than others.

all of that was from the first round. after guida landed the head kick in round 2 (what won him the round) he didnt do a goddamn thing for the next 18 minutes

guida's eye was swollen shut at the presser.

Guida landed another nice kick in round 4 or 5, that's when he "stunned" Maynard, as the commentators said. Guida didn't jump all over Maynard though, I assume he felt confident he was winning and wanted to play it safe.

I'm getting seriously mad at how shit those commentators seemed to be at grappling.
They had no fucking clue about what was happening and when for example Ebersole
was flawlessly blocking Waldburger's triangle attempt by keeping his trapped hand behind
Waldburger's body these geniuses were unanimous on that this was "a pretty tight triangle".

It's shit like this that makes you appreciate the hell out of their having Rogan.

One of the commentators just happened to have fought in the UFC for 10 years in 4 weight divisions and had multiple title shots. Clearly he has "no fucking clue about what was happening".

It also just so happens that for some reason he had absolutely no fucking clue about what was happening, either from lack of skill in operating the viewing screens (+ a very poor angle on the action),
not paying careful enough attention to the positioning or simply knowing fuck-all about submissions/submission defense.

If you think his having MMA experience makes him any better a commentator or this description excusable you are mistaken.

That is the moment he described as him having a tight triangle.

A) His posture is broken, he's been stacked and he's not even trying to recover posture (Because he knows he doesn't have a finishable triangle choke, he's just resting)
B) The trapped arm is hidden so far to the side there is no way he could ever physically recover it to place it on the other side and finish the choke, at which point (this point) this is a failed triangle choke attempt not a triangle choke, and much less a tight one.
C) His leg positioning is such that he can't switch to the other side without releasing him completely and he can't armbar any better than he could from open guard and he is at an angle that doesn't allow him to omoplata roll.

But yeah he has the trump card "I haz expirinse" and that makes his description totally accurate.

I haven't watched the event but I assume this is Kenny you're talking about. Either way making this statement makes you sound like a retard regardless of how accurate/inaccurate his description of the situation was.

If it was Anik then I'm sure nobody gives a shit.

Daut    United States. Jun 23 2012 13:15. Posts 8955

kenny has a black belt in bjj. he knows what hes talking about.

pretty sure they had a bad angle on viewing it and he got excited. nothing to get worked up about.

Yeah doesn't really matter if the quoted part is part of a sentence to a highly intelligent non-retard like yourself.
Here are the reasons stated if the truth/being honest matter to you, you might want to revise that comment of yours:

Either from
A) lack of skill in operating the viewing screens (+ a very poor angle on the action),
B) not paying careful enough attention to the positioning
C) simply knowing fuck-all about submissions/submission defense.

Don't act like I said "Because C)" it's ridiculous.

Kenny and Jon Anik are known for being bad commentators.

Some guys just aren't good at commentating. KenFlo is handsome, speaks well, and has a long lasting good image in the UFC, he just needs to work on his commentating skills a bit more. Jon Anik was hired after UFC and FOX got together, cuz Rogan/Goldie couldn't cover all the events themselves.

I usually don't listen to KenFlo/Anik's commentary, but I know it's not the best.

If the UFC didn't show any love to their fighters and hire within the company ranks, we'd have some better commentators. As you can see, all these new FOX/Fuel TV/FX shows all have former/current UFC fighters as the hosts.

I do think Rashad Evans is doing a decent job on Fuel TV, he's just as good as those former football players that do commentary on FOX/CBS/NBC football channels.

don't recall his name, but the fighter commentating opposite rashad was prettyyyyyy bad as a commentator ("I.." "...I ..." "..I ...." )

I think the time Brock was commentating on the mma side talk thing had to be the worst ever, all he did was promote himself, was awful

there are very few guys whose commentary i like.

randy couture is ok. frank mir is good but has heavy bias. rashad is really good but cannot commentate on guys he trains with or has personal grudges against because he gets emotional. jimmy smith from bellator is surprisingly good nowadays. pat miletich is probably the best at the moment, but hes surrounded by retards. rogan/kenny are meh, not great.

mma commentary will take years to reach the level of having someone like john mcenroe in tennis or marv albert/stan van gundy in basketball. for goldies job it will take a huge mma fan as a kid to go through school for broadcast journalism and get the right jobs and get lucky along the way. for an analyst it will take the best fighter who can do the job. guys like benavidez, gilbert melendez, dominic cruz or phil davis would probably make great commentators.
